997.2 Oil getting all inside my LF wheel?????

No motor up front, so I'm guessing it's the shock/ strut or maybe oil cooler??

Car had front damage in the past.

Thanks

Is it a 4S ?
Then it could be a broken CV boot

No oil cooler up front either IIRC. The oil(/water) heat exchanger is located in the engine compartment.

It has been too long since I had a shock/strut apart to remember what the oil smelled/felt like. And things change so even if I could chances are the same oil is not used today.

If it is brake fluid it will be water soluble. Get some on your fingers and then put your hand under the sink faucet. If the stuff washes away it is brake fluid.

If it doesn't it is oil and it could be a leaking strut.

If it was a CV boot -- if you have a 4S -- that's grease not oil.

Actually I think the odds are, I hope I'm wrong, but the odds are the leak is from the power steering system, probably the rack, though a leaking power steering line or line fitting is also a possibility.

You are going to have to take the car to a pro Porsche tech. He'll recognize the fluid type right away. Knowing the fluid type then helps one know where it could be coming from.

Best to not let it go. If it is a power steering fluid leak the pump can be ruined if the fluid level gets low. But regardless of the source of the leak it won't get any better as time goes by.
