looking for background on Midnight Blue '06 C2S from PA/KY/IL area
SubscribeHi all,
I'm currently considering making an offer on a Midnight Blue '06 C2S that has been floating around the PA, KY, IL area since new (according to Carfax) and is currently up for sale in IL.
It's a long shot, but I thought someone on this board may have seen it before on a message board or IRL as it looks like one of the previous owners dropped some money doing significant upgrades to the suspension (RSS Tarmac suspension kit, swaybars).
While the suspension work isn't necessarily a negative, I'm a little concerned that this car used to be someone's track toy and perhaps that even with low miles the car could have been used very hard.
Thanks in advance.

Seems to be a lot of work to the suspension for normal driving. Plus the product description states that the kit is specifically for lowered vehicles and it does not look lowered to me. I would bother me as well.
There's decent corrosion on some of those suspension components which to me means it was also driven in the winter. Before making an offer, as part of your PPI, you need to have the cylinders boroscoped to look for any cylinder wall scoring, as this seems to occur more frequently in cars used in cold, winter weather. Also, make sure to pull a DME report as track cars are also more likely to have overrevs you need to know about and make a decision on. Just because there are some suspension upgrades, does not necessarily mean the car was tracked - I have a full RSS Stage 2 suspension in mine with Bilstein Damptronics, adjustable sway bars, and drop links and it has never seen a track for anything other than some parade laps with the Porsche corral. I just prefer the way it drives through the mountains and at high-speed without the vagueness from the rubber isolators in the OEM suspension components, but make sure to do your due diligence as I may be more of the exception than the rule.
Is it a dealer or PP?
Before I purchased my car, I asked that they scan all the paperwork for me. I got the name of the previous owner from the title, did some googling, emailed him and got the full scoop on the car. I also found the insurance card of the 1st owner in the car and got in touch with him.. They were both really happy to hear from me!
might be a bit slimy, but I know everything about my car

Thanks again for the replies. After receiving the PPI and a little negotiating I jumped in and bought it! Car was delivered this afternoon to me and I'm very hopeful that it will be smooth sailing ahead. Will also have a local shop give it a once over now just to be sure.
