Louder exhaust and lower stance

Have 997S with PASM/PSE.

Too quite for my taste however don't want to lose functionality of PSE. What is best exhaust mod to achieve louder exhaust without losing PSE function?

Would also like to lower stance without losing PASM function. Will a set of lowering springs do the trick and still allow PASM to work as designed?

Finally, what is recommended spacer width frt/rr to achieve wider stance?

You can keep the PSE mufflers and change to a 200 cell high flow X-cat. You can also change to better equal length headers for better flow. In addition, there are also a couple companies that make new louder and higher flow mufflers with the vacuum valves like PSE. Mine are Fabspeed but I don't believe they offer this product any longer. Innotech or FVD are 2 others. Maybe Rubi or cargraphic too.

Sound clip of my Fabspeed setup (headers, valvetronic mufflers in Sport setting, 200 cell X-cats) - https://youtu.be/VMJ_NLjjJNw

You can use just lowering springs with the stock PASM dampeners (Eibach, RUF, and others), but a better overall result (both the look and driving performance improvement) will be achieved by changing to coil overs - either Bilstein's B16 Damptronics or TPC's DDA versions - both preserve your PASM functionality.

Most common spacer combo is 7mm front and 15mm rear, but the look of how the body sits on the wheels and tires is a very personal preference - I personally don't like any poke, but others want them as far out as possible without rubbing. Take measurements of your current setup and decide what you need. Also look at both sides of the car as most 997s are not actually symmetrical left and right. This thread has pictures of what I consider perfect and why.

Welcome and good luck. Great looking car in the best color

check out Brombacher headers and 200 cell cats specifically for 997.1 with PSE. Car in below link is mine, no regret. Price is significantly cheaper than 2 years ago when i bought mine. Love how car sound with sport mode on. No CEL or any issue since day 1.

"can't go wrong with these..." what my indy shop said.

http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/92...haust_PSE.html

My c2s is lowered with Eibach springs, thus far i like the look, work fine with PASM.

Let me know if need contact info about the exhaust...can't believed they are only $3100.00 now.

Advertised + 18 Hp & + 15 Tq Gain.

IMO those are realistic number, car feel much quicker than stock exhaust.

Hope you find the right one for the money. Shipping took 3 wks from Germany it was free part of the deal.

Put a SharkWorks X pipe in it and be done with the exhaust. About $700. Retains PSE and sounds great. I have that set-up on my 997 4S and love it. Smog legal, no issues.

Thanks Cairo, I'll look into the SharkWorks X pipe. Does it eliminate cats completely or used in conjunction with stock cats? I'll look online for specs. tx again

Cairo, is your 4s gen 1 or 2?

Also, I thought your handle looked familiar. I have 74' 914 2.0 and familiar with you from 914World.

@OP have you look at AWE, Fabspeed? get the right setup the first time, issues like check engine light, drones, smelly gas aren't worth the headache for saving few hundred bucks.

Yup, that's me on 914World.Com regarding my '71 Six. I also have a 997.2 (2010) C4S. The SharkWorks pipe just replaces the center muffler. The cats remain as well as the side mufflers. No smog issues at all.

BTW, if you get the XPipe and install it yourself, it is a lot easier to do if you just remove the rear bumper and have the car on some jack stands to give yourself room to work. I would spray all of the center muffler bolts and clamps with PB Blaster or some other penetrant the night before. Cheers

I had H&R Springs and I didn't lose my PASM; I switched to BC Racing and I lost PASM. I can't say I regret losing the functionality. After several weeks at this ride height I'll be slightly raising the car a little, and also adjusting the damper setting as it's a little soft - it has dual settings. I ended up having to remove the spacers when going over dips in the road but I suspect I need a better alignment as I found the INDI shop didn't dial it in.

BC Racing

H&R - has a rake and rear is slightly higher than the front :-/

WOW, picture #2 seems quite low to me, nice ride though, KH

When I picked it up at the shop I thought it looked cool but honestly it was lower than I expected. I wanted zero gap, but instead it's tucked a bit. I also think the alignment is not correct and I'll be having this done after I notch it up a bit.

I think the camber is off as even after removing spacers there's a slight rear rub on the right rear and/or the setting is too soft.

I was rather in a rush as the install was right after my employer transferring me to OKC.

I'll be playing with the ride height this weekend and look forward to remounting my 15mm spacers on all 4 corners.
