window smashed in...

Some idiot smashed in my passenger side window on the 997s while I was in my office today... I heard and went out to get him but he took off in a Ford Probe with stolen tags (per B-more police). Anyway, he didn't get anything but broken glass all over my interior - Anybody know a good spot online to buy 997 windows?

TIA

Just set up an appointment with Safelite (www.safelite.com)... Only $250 for window installed, seems reasonable...

Make sure you get original Porsche glass. I don't know about coupes but I know that the cabs have special side window glass. I have no idea what it means but it says that the glass is water repellant?!?! Let the flames begin but... it actually says that on the window sticker and I remember reading something about there being some unique side window glass on the car.

2thfxr is correct, the windows do repel water. Try and get the WR designation when you order the glass. These will repel wind as well as water. They actually work better when they are in the "up" position.

Those idiots broke the windscreen on my wife's E500 while repairing a rock chip.

They put a cold rag on the hot windscreen (summer day) and split it in half. Idiots!

Get some local references.

My friend's mom and dad were driving their M5 a few weeks ago when some kids through a BLOCK of ice at the windshield. It landed right in front of the passengers face and shattered the windshield (the windshield didn't break because of the layer b/w the glass, but it completely shattered). People... people are definately drinking their "haterade" lately.

I actually got it fixed today with Safelight and they had the exact Porsche glass (as described by 2thfixr). I made them show me the details to make sure it was the same and it was. I was also in and out in 45 mins and they cleaned the interior for me! Very efficient company (in Baltimore anyway)... No complaints. What would the dealer charge to replace side glass?
