Hello everyone.
I'm considering upgrading the exhaust on my 06 997.1 C4S non-PSE to get a bit more deep and agressive grunty sound.
Since my car is DD it's important that I have the option to keep it fairly calm, sound-wise, from time to time, in addition to the ability to let it roar when I'm on the open road. So, that's why a valvetronic system is what I'm searching for.
As I have read countless posts on the subject I've realized there are as many opinions as there are systems out there.
I am really intrigued with the Armytrix Super Sport mufflers but I'm worried that they might be a bit over-the-top LOUD. There are some videos online of the system, but nothing beats hearing it live. As far as I know there aren't anyone with this installed here in Norway.
So, to (hopefully) get some feedback and reviews I'm reaching out to you guys. Are there anyone out there with the mufflers installed on a 997.1 S and how was your experience with it? Any drone issues? And also, how loud is it really?
Hope someone out there can give me some feedback!

Save yourself some money and get the Fister Sport mufflers. This is a very nicely done “Gundo” setup where they send you a set of mufflers and you return your stock ones back.
Thanks for your feedback.
Sure, that is an option. However, I'm really after a Valvetronic system. Also, as I live in Norway it might be a bit less cost effective to ship mufflers compared to for you Americans

Fisters are not loud, just gives the note a deeper sound and some burble when you let off the gas.
You could always just take your stock mufflers to an exhaust shop and have them do a Gundo on it. Here, that would run about $200 if the shop removes and installs, and $100 if you do the R&R.
Wait until you see the shipping charges of the Armytrix!

True, I know the gundo hack. That is always an option, but I was more interested in finding out more about armytrix or other Valvetronic systems.
I am in the EXACT same situation. I decided against the Armytrix valved muffler due to what I perceived as a "rough" overall tone that I disliked from listening to the various YT videos. I like a very deep, low sound and I was hoping for a Fabspeed solution (they have discontinued their valvetronic muffler). I had negotiated with Fabspeed to use my 997.1S as a test bed for the design of a new version, but they eventually declined.
That leaves us with paying $$$ for at the OEM Porsche Sport Exhaust or acceptance of the overall louder response from one of the aftermarket muffler systems.
Right now, I am leaning towards a Borla set-up. The Borla's have rich deep tone that I personally enjoy when I have heard them in other vehicles. With my engine mods, I would expect to get a very loud exhaust sound at wide open throttle, but an acceptable (louder than stock) tone at idle and low rpm.

Still undecided.
Yeah, I also went down the Fabspeed route and was a bit disappointed to find out they have discontinued their valved mufflers. I spoke with them and they said that they got some feedback from clients that the sound difference between open and closed was too small and that's why they stopped manufacturing them. I have their carbon fiber intake and I am happy with it so far.
As for other valvetronic solutions I'm also considering Cargraphic. I spoke with Austin at Vivid Racing and he confirmed my assumption that the valvtronic ones from Cargraphic were more similar to the OEM PSE mufflers, as far as sound levels go. What led me to Cargraphic in the first place was their promise of no drone/resonance. I have not gotten that from any other company.
Other options for valvetronic are two french companies, Evox Performance and Scart. The Evox mufflers sound good from YouTube videos, but maybe a bit on the soft side/muffled for my taste. Also, nothing on any community site assuring me that they are worth forking up the €s. The Scart ones sound similar, maybe a bit rougher, but their control system is through a switch that has to be mounted in the cockpit through wiring. Not really what I was after..
Other companies are DesignTek and TopGear. Both British, and both similar priced. Again, not many reviews of those setups and I do get a bit hesitant due to their low price.. There must be a reason why they are so much cheaper than the other systems I've mentioned. Not sure.
I'm slowly coming to the realisation that I might be getting a bit too picky It is only an exhaust after all, and it can be swapped if I'm not happy.
I've never heard the Borla exhaust in person, but videos online sound real nice! Shame that they don't have a valvetronic solution.
The search continues. And I still would really appreciate it if someone out there could share their experience with Armytrix

I'm one of the lucky ones that was able to buy the Fabspeed valvetronic setup when I was looking to upgrade my exhaust back in 2012, and even found it used - the only one I've ever seen come up for sale.
i polished it back to like new and redid the hook up to my factory PSE vacuum actuator with braided stainless lines.
Too bad they declined to reproduce it, as the sound is great.

Good job on the clean-up! They look great! And congrats on being one of the few that actually got their hands on this setup!
Any drone?

The exhaust is actually quieter inside the car when in sport mode. In quiet mode there is a very little bit of drone inside, but it's nice to be able to quiet it down when driving next to a cop or leaving the neighborhood early in the morning.
Maxspeed has OEM style valve tronic mufflers. I remember looking at these before I found a lightly used OEM set. I've never heard or seen these in person and have no affiliation with maxspeed so do your own research.

I don't have any experience with the NHP mufflers, but bought their interlocking oval style tips from Maxspeed for my widebody Cayenne turbo S to use with a cargraphic muffler to replace the OEM rocket style tips, and I was pleasantly surprised by the heft and quality of them.
