997.1 Crawls like a turtle?

I started the car, I heard a loud sound, the engine idled, geared in reverse, the car started to move slowly, then stops as if it is in neutral

in lieu of reverse, i tried first gear with same results: crawls for a few feet then stops moving as if engine is in neutral.

No noise,/grinding,when shifting gears.

Any ideas? It is a 2007 C4S.

One article mentioned it might be a “half shaft”.

Dang....this occurred at 12/:10 am last nite and i had to wait until almost 2am for the tow truck.

Thank you.

If clutch or TO bearing, I would have problems shifting into gears, correct?

fyi, while engine idling, I can shift into 1sr, 2nd, Reverse, etc without issues.

I will be working on the car this week. Let’s all hope we are
all correct about the clutch.

I will update this post when available.

As previously mentioned, it it is the clutch it would be super disappointing as I probably have less than 20K on these clutch components. And yes, I have been driving stick shift cars for many decades so I am 100% sure it wasn’t me.

Was the flywheel replaced or resurfaced with the last clutch work 20K miles ago? If replaced you might have an active parts warranty on it.
