Sport Chrono Plus
i dont know bout 40-50 lbs of torque, but i have it and you can feel the throttle response diff for sure... i think its worth it. its a "sport" button you push, kinda annoying - - i wish it was on all the time.
there is a suspension feature also on a push button, i never use it cuz its just way too rough of a ride.
but again IMO, get it - worth it!! enjoy!!

Sell them every day. No increase in torque or Power. Just a increase in throttle, less intrusive PSM and is you have PASM it goes into an even more aggressive setting. On the new Turbo however there will be an increase in torque ; )
I understand the difference in throttle response. My confusion was with the "Plus" portion. My understanding is that it allows 15% more slip angle before traction control kicks in, vs. previous Sport Chrono packages.

...and, it allows an entire host of user configurable setting for HVAC, lighting, etc. based on each key (1 driver == 1 key).
Pretty cool!

Go get this month's "Total 911" magazine which has an article in it called something like "Why You Need a Sport Chrono."
Basically, when you hit the Sport button you get a few things: PASM goes into a sporty setting which as mentioned above is fairly harsh unless you're tracking or on nice roads, your electronic throttle response goes up - i.e. pushing the pedal down 1 inch gives you more gas than in non-sport mode - this does not give you extra HP,...just a more sporty response. PSM is also toned down a bit in sport mode.
You can run Sport and Sport PASM, Sport and normal PASM, or normal and normal PASM. I always run Sport (because I really prefer the sporty throttle response) and normal PASM (because in sport PASM it's just too harsh on my typical drives).
I do not regularly use the actual chronometer - I understand it is more useful in timing and storing repetitive drives (commutes) rather than things like trying to time a 0-100 run.
Sport Chrono Plus also gives some other bells and whistles like allowing programming in PCM for up to three keys,...things like auto-doorlock, light dimming times etc etc.
If you are getting a Tip, I think the Sport Chrono is a must...again, check out that article. I'm only holding off posting it simply because it's a great magazine and they're still new and getting off the ground - so go buy it!!!!

It appears it will have a very different meaning on the 997TT. You can feel the difference with vs. without the "sport" button selected. I don't know what Porsche means by throttle "response," because you will feel slightly less/more throttle when you change your selection during a constant RPM. It makes a huge difference if you have tip vs. manual because shifting is delayed to max RPMs when using automatic.
I use it all the time. I only turn off PASM on the freeway because the ride is too firm if the road is at all uneven. When you have PSE, sport selects the louder exhaust and throttle response (PASM is a separate setting).
It might be psychological, but I like it. Does it really make your car run faster? ........................not likely.
