Question pasm sport setting

I used the sport setting on the PASM and I feel uncomfortable, the car does not seem planted but travels as though on a sponge-bounces.

I would like to hear what other board members think of the sport setting.

I think most people feel the same way. I drive with sport setting on and PASM in normal mode. PASM in sport mode is way too bouncy unless you're on a track or a smooth road.

I thought it was just me. I never use the PASM. Every time I do, I get a speeding ticket. Last night, I got an exhibition of speed misdemeanor for taking off at a red light. I didn't even go past 25 mph before I let off and a cop gave me a ticket. I have nothing nice to say about the LAPD. I won't say anything in order not to offend anyone on 6speed.

AGREED. Sport mode "ON" to activate my Porsche Sport Exhaust system, and dampers back to soft. Requires two button pushes, but so what?

I love the sport PASM setting. It offers direct feedback from the road surface. Sport (with better response) plus suspension on is what a sports car should feel like. Not a freaking Lexus ride!

Redlined: I agree also - the direct feedback is awesome. OTHO, have you ever seen the roads in the Chicago suburbs? Kidney damage is not on my agenda at this time (and I used to ride dirt bikes...).

PASM Sport is stiff - potentially too stiff for general street work. Now, on the track...

LOL Don, I trained in Illinois, I understand you. Around here there are roads that I do turn PASM off too. Ussually though I just enjoy the feedback. My old 996 felt way too soft. This car feels more like my former track cars, it's a huge improvement!

once more with feeling, PASM is NOT stiff on a smooth highway, I wish it were. You don't bounce around on stiff suspension the feed back is hard.
I'll reserve further comment until the 1st DE but i hope I will not bounce off the track.

Schicago, either there is something wrong with your car; or perhaps you don't understand the feel of a sport suspension... A serious race suspension setup will practically loosen ones fillings. Soft suspensions ABSORB the bumps allowing for a smoother softer ride at the expense of handling abilities...think shock absorbers. The stiffer sport setting transmits more road imperfection feedback while not allowing the body to roll and provides more precise handling input. Again, did you want a sports car or a wallowing body flexing lexus type at speed?

I do not secretly desire a Lexus, my fillings are fine last I checked the sport mode does not jar me as set out in my last post and as I stated above I'm bouncing Not absorbing the bumps like your Lexus.
The other replies seem to be in accord (not the car Bud).
However I always appreciate a scholarly constructive reply we all become enlightened. Lets not forget about a base 997 without sport suspension do you consider that car Porsche's version of a Lexus?

Track vs Street

I rarely use PASM on sport on the street as it's not so much too hard a ride per se, but more that the bounce frequency is too high. It feels like you're attached to some giant oscillator.

On the track however it's just perfect in sport. There's a great new track in Joliet called Autobahn and an ex Porsche sales guy and track guru run days there for Porsche owners, and on that track you would not want PASM on soft.

For the street PASM off is a little too soft, but as Chicagoans know our roads are a little uneven...
