Per factory:

997
0 - 100 km/h ( 62 mph ) = 5.0 seconds ,
top speed = 285 km/h ( 177 mph )

997 S
0- 100 km/h ( 62 mph ) = 4.8 seconds ,
top speed = 293 km/h ( 182 mph )

those are the Porsche quoted numbers though. i have seen the 997S as quick as 4.1 to 60, and the 997 as quick as 4.6 to 60.

The difference is only noticeable when you have the cars side by side. You will notice the difference while you are just driving.

The S comes with PASM (optional on the 997), and you have the option of Sport Exhaust (not available on the 997). The 997 rides a slight bit higher than the S, but both can be lowered.

The 997 is a great car. I had one for 10 months then bought the 997S with X51. It was a deal I could not pass up.

I think the S has also bigger brakes than the regular Carrera.

On the S big reds are standard, and an option on the 997. I stand corrected.

Smile Plain C2 is great!

Last spring I ordered a new 2006 C2 w/PASM & Bose...white/beige standard.
The car is great $74,750 list...added EVO air intake and 18" GT3 wheel set w/tires. I also kept the standard 18" wheels!
I can't use the "S" power at the top end or bottom end. I rarely drive at night so the lighting option is moot.
You should save your money, and take driving lessons at the track.
The plain carrera is a fabulous car.

It is a fabulous car indeed but they are way different from each other if you compare them base price to base price.
