Maintenance costs over 3 years?

As I get closer to purchasing a 997S, what kind of maintenance costs can I expect? I've always had BMW's where everything was included so this will be a change for me. If I plan to keep it for 3 years @ 10-12k miles per year, what would I incur in costs (ballpark of course)?

With that mileage, you could probably get away with only having to do two oil changes, and possible only two tire changes. Anything unscheduled should be under warranty.

you should plan to spend 1300-1500/yr covering maint services and new tires. This estimates that you change rear tires every year and one set of fronts.

Isn't the service interval 15k and 30k? The main expense will be tires. Rear tires every 8-10k miles @ $1000 and new fronts ever other set of rears.

$1000 for rears? Seems a little high. I've never paid over $650-700.

i have had my car for alittle over a year, 7k miles, changed the oil myself 3x for around $60 each. thats all the maintenance, which was probably overkill anyways.
probably in 3 years you will have to add one brake pad change and fluid flush, less than $250 if you do it yourself, or $600 at independent shop, $1000 at dealer. maybe tires after 20K mile depending on driving style.
arling is right, these cars are low maintenance. all your money will go on mods, unless you consider mods as maintenance...

porsche calls for the first oil change at 20k miles... this being my first p-car i noticed people here are changing oil much earlier... should i just follow a normal 3k mile oil change schedule or go with the manual????

thoughts...

imo if it is your car and not a lease just do the oil changes a little earlier, if you were planning on 20K then why not cut it in half to 10K. I enjoy doing the work so did it much earlier and dont think it will hurt, although some people talk about the myth of special break in oil...
