those who got 997, do you wish you spend the 10k extra and gotten the S?

just curious. I know most of the time even the 997 is enough for most people.
but having driven the regular boxster and boxster S, i definately saw the difference in power. i know that 10k is worth it.
is it the same with the 997 and 997S?

I drove them both and got the non-S. Once you learn how to throttle the car properly and recognize where the power kicks in (and where there are holes) the 997 is definitely enough car. Basically, if you know how to drive there is not a huge difference IMO. 30 hp and PASM for $10k? (Rohrl's fastest laps in a 997 at the Ring were with the PASM in comfort mode - might as well not have it).
With that said any 997 model is too much car for street driving, you need to track or tour where there are no cops to experience the demands this car puts on a driver.
If your thing is taking off through intersections from red lights, save your money and get something else entirely.

Its completely worth it. However, you can get a far greater discount on a base 997 than an "S". If by chance, you can negotiate a 20k difference, the base would be well worth IMO. I have driven both and currently own an "S". IMO- the base 997 is better for hardcore bumper to bumper city traffic driving. However, when you let it rip once in a while, you'll always wish you had the "S". If I were looking to keep costs down, I would order the "S" without a single option save for the sports chrono and maybe the BOSE. Think of it as a fully loaded base 997.
LIL raja , I dont own a 997 but you could always buy a 997 911 Carrera 2 and when you get bored of its speed etc, you can add an ecu upgrade, mufflers catbypass pipes, headers and an air intake system to get you more power

In terms of resale I think the "S" will fair better as it seems to be very popular choice. Performance numbers are astounding for the "S" 0-60MPH 9n 3.9secs and 1/4 mile in 12.3secs! Turbo brakes, Xenon, Quad Exhaust, Silver Gauges, PCM, PSM, PASM, Restricted Exhaust Manifolds (When changed can yield an additional 14HP+), Red Calipers, "S" Emblems, Sport Steering Wheel, 3.8L Boxer motor thats better for modding, etc.
I dunno that answer for sure..
I added 10k in options, so if I would of went for the 'S', I still would of added PROBABLY 10K in options which made the car closer to 100k, then...all's I can say is forget the S, ....its time for a GT3 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The beauty is I am gonna own many Porsches in this lifetime.
Try them all within reason...and options....
oh yeah...girl power

My local dealer is pretty aggressive about pricing. I got $9k off of my C2S Cab.
I think $5k off a base 997 is pretty negotiable depending on what inventory they have.
Custom orders I'm not too sure about.
