This can't be right

The new turbo hits 99mph in 11.2 sec and the 997S does it in 10.7 sec according to the Porsche web site.

There have been several, several threads about this, it has got to be a typo, considering a 996tt non x50 does 0-100 in 9.1 sec's!

No way that's right.

If you go to the U.K Porsche site you see these performance numbers attached to the 997TT:

Manual:

0-62: 3.9s
0-99: 8.4s
50-75: 3.5s

Tip:

0-62: 3.7s
0-99: 7.8s
50-75: 3.5s

According to Porsche, Tip is faster due to the transmission's ability to anticipate a standing start by brake torquing to deliver full boost immediately.

It's not right. Those 0-99 numbers that were posted for the 997TT are not much better than for the 997 non S.

Who in their right mind would pay that when you can get the same performance in a base model?

If they are, then they seriously detuned the U.S. version of the car (which actually wouldn't be too surprising since they did that with the S model exhaust).

Yeah but that would be a stupid detuning...an extreme lack of power...

Those slow times for the 0-100 are bogus. That number looks like it's the total time to go 0-100 and then back to 0 again.

check this post for real world testing, only car to outperform it is the Veyron (which is as quick as a GSX-R 1000 cc motorcycle!):
