06 997S owner.. First time flooring it.

Hey everyone. I have a 06 997S, black with aero kit and PSE. I purchased it about a month ago. The break in period has been hell for me, the book said keep it under 4250 rpm for the first 2k miles. Ive been good so far untill today. I had about 1650 miles on the car and for some reason i just coudnt stand it anymore and started to go all out. Is 1650 miles enough??

Anyway, my thoughts: the traction on this thing is amazing and the accelaration was better then i thought, especially 1st and 2nd gear. RPMs fly up ther like no tomorrow. My previous car was a 04 Z06 and i thought that thing had ***** but im starting to think that the 997s might give it a good run for the money. Also the sound that this thing makes over 4k RPM is jsut sex. being in the break in process i never got to here that sexy sound; It could be louder though. After having full exhuast with straight pipes on the vette, having a loud car has a different meaning to me..

Mods coming up are probably fabspeed muffler bypass pipes, evo intake, and GIAC. As far as looks, im deffinetly going to go with some HRE's, techart side skirts, techart roof spoiler.;; who knows what else later

Yes...having a 355 hp Porsche and can't floor it...it's just baaad!
Anyway I don't think it will give problems at all...you should ask Chris from Cali...he has one too. ( as other thousand people here )
Congrats on the car and keep it safe!

I followed that 4200 rpm rule for about 500-600 miles... Since then, I mix it up - I have never hit redline, I usually upshift when I drive hard around 6K, etc. I have had a lot of cars with "sensitive" engines and broken them all in the same way with no problems.

I always check the oil level (so far @ 1900+ miles none added), I always let the car get to full operating temp, etc.

Have a good time! You should be fine at this point to drive it normally...

My car has about 500 miles on it and has already seen lots of full-throttle runs through the gears and some near-redline (7k) shifts. Don't fret it. If you were to buy the car in Germany, they will tell you the break-in period is for the driver, not the car.

Same here. 800 Miles and have taken it to redline a couple of times. I talked with the mechanic and he said doing that a few times wont do a thing. You know....if any of you have built motors before....there is a myth that during the break in period, if you drive the car hard and fast you will have a fast motor and driving it slow will produce a slow motor. I have no idea if this works but do know some motors are faster than others off the prodcution line.

Hey man....where are the pics???? What mods will you do?

I have heard this is the true story behind the break-in period. From what I understand all the engines are dynoed anyway to ensure that they put out the stated horsepower.

Another bit of info... I drove my car 'nicely' for about 1000 miles, then I took it to the dyno. It put out the 308.2... almost EXACTLY what others are getting with well broken in engines on the same dyno. After that, I just drive the whoolies out of it. I'm up to 9k miles with all the mods. Killer. I LOVE these cars! By the way, Fabspeed all the way. Headers too. Add that to the list and don't mess with the cats. That's my opinion.1-2HP isn't worth the check engine light being bothersome.

Both are beautiful. Up to nearly KM2500 on mine. Only KM 500 to go before I go for that redline.

When I bought mine the dealer told me that the breakin time was manly because they don't want ppl going crazy in the car before they atleast get used to it. He also said that the engines come pretty much broken in because they run them at the factory or something
