X-51 Headers install? pricing? ..,etc

I just recieved my X-51 headers that I had ordered from sunset porsche and am searching for a place to get them installed. Initially I had planned to install them myself then thought it would be much easier to have them installed by a professional and have the comfort in knowing that its been done right. So I went to my local porsche dealer and ask the service depo how much they would charge for labor, they said it would probly be a 3-4 hour job and cost about $375. Seemed kind of pricy to me so decided to check how much performance shops would charge me. I called a place and they told me a 2 hour job and would cost $210.

What do you guys think, pricy? Do you think I can get this job done for a less expensive price somewhere else. I am from So Cal btw.

Very simple job...get Drew to help you The headers seem to be a straight forward install. Did you try Lucent??

Yeah the job seems simple enough and i am familiar with whats down there since i installed my exhaust myself. But I just wanted to avoid the hassle of doing it myself.. And yes lucent was the one who quoted me that price.. Inless the want to go a little cheaper

i'm a porsche noob, heck i've only had my new 997S for about 3 weeks now. lol
anyway, i've seen the term "X-51" or "X-51 Package" in quite a few other threads.

can i ask... what is this X-51? i'm guessing it's an engine code or something? is it more than headers? what are the performance benefits associated with the X-51?

thanks in advance for bearing with a noob.

Jason, before asking a question like that, it is customary to search first and then asking, if you can't come up with results. lol but since you're a noob, X-51 in general is a special package that yields in higher horsepower than a normal 997S and consists of the signature carbon fiber air box which looks absolutely sweet under the decklid, as well as headers, among a few other things that escape my memory.

V35, you are half right, what you are talking about is call "Powerkit" that came with all those. part # 997-044-100-00.
StrtSwpr996 only have X-51 Headers install.
The stock 997S headers have 42mm tubes, and the X-51 have 48mm tubes.
What that mean is more hp that is why Jason, you need to change your header.

i did headers and exhaust on my own in about 3 hrs.

just put the car up on rhino ramps and start pulling stuff out.

its actually pretty straight forward, pull the original headers off, move the gaskets to the new headers, put them back in. it helps to remove the mufflers so that you have more space, so you might as well go ahead and replace the mufflers while you're under there.
