Well I've never stopped to see differences on a C2 and a C4, but when I have them in front of me on the streets I can see the C4 is wider...but a non-Porsche fan wouldn't see that!

C4, C4S & Turbo have the same body dimensions... 1852mm in the back
the C2, C2S are 1808. Like Dave said, 44mm is not much to speak about, but the quarter panels are designed completely different, nearly flat on top. Even though it's only 1.75 inches, it appears much wider because of the quarter design.
