I liked it until I tried the Navigation in a Land Cruiser of the similar year. You can't beat touch screen and location recognition.

It sucks. Even the one in my Chevy is light years ahead of this thing. Lexus takes it to another level.

Adequate, better than none- would not rec.

I wish I had saved the money and got a Kenwood integrated system or just a Garmin Nuvi.

Do yourself a favor, save some money, and order an aftermarket unit.

Frustrations of the Porsche unit:
-Poor selection of POI: I end up google texting the business first via cell phone then inputting the address into nav. Other/Better units have the business name, address, and can even bluetooth the business phone number to your cell phone!
-Bad User Interface: No touch screen; instead you have to rotate the **** through the whole alphabet! Can't look up business by name. Display and direction cues are somewhat delayed and confusing (e.g. not sure when you have to turn right until the Navi man/woman yells it for the fifth time)
-Overall bad experience causes you to a)feel cheated for spending so much money on this "upgrade" and b)actually under-utilize the navi because its such a pain!

Buy the TomTom or Garmin, keep it in the glovebox, and use it when absolutely necessary.

OR

Another option is to be rid of PCM completely and replace it with an aftermarket unit that has Navi, Bluetooth, IPOD adapter, and rear view camera! (there's quite a few of them on the 996 board).
Wow i am so Happy someone agrees w/ me on this subject. This is the most unfriendly unit that is way behind even the simple portable type navs .I can't wait to install my complete new system . NAV, BLUETOOTH , NAVTRAFFIC ,XM , BACKUP CAMERA , AND FOCAL UTOPIA SPEAKERS .

I have the Nav in both a Lexus LS430 and LX470. They are very user friendly and I am used to the way they operate (even though they are slightly different from each other).
When I ordered my 2008 C4S I ordered the Nav. After several weeks of use I have come to the conclusion that it was a waste of money. While it does work, it is not as user friendly as my other two cars. I especially miss the touch screen.
If I had not had experience with the Lexus Nav, maybe I would be more satisfied with the Porsche unit. However, it is dissapointing to me to pay as much as I did for the car and find the Nav is, in my opinion, second rate.
I would not recommend the Porsche Nav to anyone.

Like alot of things in life, it looks good. I'm just happy the rest of the car doesn't perform the same.

After market units have better features but I prefer the integrated approach. Added mine after te fact and I am glad that I did.
