I originally had my Nav set to a male voice because I did not want to hear a woman's voice telling me wear to go all the time. Then I discovered the settings for england. The female voice with an english accent giving directions is hot.

I need to do the update (have an 06 with whatever came before pcm 2.1) and was wondering if anyone had tried the newest disc that comes in the 08s? I was told awhile ago by a parts dept that there was definitely a newer disc then the one from 10/06 expected with the 08s (no idea if just new maps or pcm software as well). It was a non returnable special order at full price so I didn't go ahead with the purchase but I'm curious if it will work...

I like the birdseye view on the BMW/Mini nav as well, looks

Both systems could be better but they help get me where I need to go, provides alternate routes, have a lot of locations, are well placed and I don't have to worry about removing them, so I'm happy.

Streamlined, PM me, I could probably help you out.

There is a new DVD for PCM 2.1. The year of the dvd is 10.2006.

Its what comes in the newest cars.

However, you need to update your firmware to 2.1 version. I have the update CD The dealer usually doesnt give it out because they want to charge you an hours worth of labor for 10 mins worth of work!

Which aftermarket unit did you end up going with? Does it look clean in the dash? How much did it end up costing?
Thanks

Yep - just change your language setting to "English GB" on the main PCM setup and your voices on navigation will switch over to the British versions.

I find Porsche and BMW nav units are lacking in features but they get the job done. Even Ford navi units are better than the BMW and Pcar units. The only reason why I got it is due to the fact they are integrated with the car.

Since the Nav is one part of the PCM, it has to use the same opertion with other function, and can not be operation like other GPS stand alone unit. So to me, it OK just has to get used to it.

The newer 2.1 version is a lot better than the 05/06 versions I think, and I've been able to help a few of you out w/the update cd and newer nav discs ...Im sure you'd agree. I was very unhappy w/the original 05 version of the PCM software and nav dvd, but now im pretty content.

SLP, is that CD one you can burn a copy of? I have an '07 that arrived on 07/06, so I'm guessing I have PCM 2.0? Is there a way to verify on screen?
