See here's where I'd argue the other side of the fence... IF chevy stepped up the quality of the interior and other areas, I'd have no issues PAYING for the asking price, or even a little more. The car is a phenominal performance bargain. They need to step out of walmart and make it the "SUPERCAR" it should be in every respect, not just one or two areas.

My wife saw pics of it, said GM finally got it right and gave her blessing... Geez. She HATED my C5...

Yep, and I would pay more too. However, the number of people who are willing and able to shell out $120,000+ for a car is indeed miniscule compared to the Corvette owner demographics. Unlike some, I have no problem with the car as it's presently constituted. Some minor upgrades here and there, if that, and it's perfect for me. I've been on a list of ZR1 buyer for over a year now, let's see what the car looks like in person.

The "price point" they came up with is where in my opinion they made a mistake. It seems like GM decided to stick with a target price that placed the ZR1 at a level where a small segment of traditional Vette supporters/owners MAY be able to justify buying the car. What GM should have dome in my opinion is to go the extra effort to really make this car a break-out from the other Vettes. It has the performance, but not the "supporting cast" in the other areas to really elevate it to the super car level. They needed to target the "super car" buyer crowd...a crowd that is not worried about spending $120-150k for a car that has the performance AND appropriate overall presentation and functionality.

The ZR1 should come standard with a better steering wheel, and more functional seats designed for the cornering g this car will produce. And the clear plastic cover in the hood seems to be a very poor attempt at emulating Ferrari's clear engine cover.

I like it, just wished they would have put some more into the interior, or had a good options list

The ZR1 promises to be a great car for $100K or so. I doubt there will be anything in the world for that kind of money that can touch it. When I drove the ZO6 I was floored. Super fast, great brakes, etc. On the fit and finish issue, the ZO6 is not bad. Not in the realm of Porsche, BMW or MB, but not bad.

Not a bad time to be a car person, huh? We have a lot of choices of great performing hardware.

totally agree. We were talking about that at the mag the other day. Why is it that We being American manufactures, do so well on one part such as styling and engines and what not but totally drop the ball in quality, fit and finish. WHY oh Why can they not get it right?
