C6 Oil/Coolant Issues

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 C6 vette, that I am having some issues with.

Today out of nowhere when I left her idoling, the oil temperature spiked to 215-217, and the coolant went to 210-212ish. The only other time this has happened was when my serpentine belt snapped off causing everything to obviously go crazy. I checked the belt it was tight and straight, checked coolant levels looked fine, and no leaks.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

Were you in traffic? Those numbers are pretty normal for a stock 'Vette. These cars like to have a lot of air moving and they'll run warm when sitting.

Just wait until you start racing and your oil temps hit 300F. Then you might have to slow it down a bit.

Coolant

I have used Tufoil to reduce friction. In extreme cold, I have blocked off the rad! because the heater didn't 'work'. If used, I would assume the EPA Warmup cycle would fail
