Congrats to the Mustang - that is certainly not the outcome I expected.

Both of these cars are porkers though, at 3600+ lbs.

Wow, add some Konis to the Stang and you have a great setup! Not to mention that they are already running 9s and beyond with the Stang!
Awesome

You can see the real difference in how the two cars drove by the fact that Pobst was resting his elbow on the door armrest in the Bimmer. Makes me think that despite the BMW's speed there is some truth to him saying the Mustang was actually more fun to drive.

Hilarious. Bet the BMW boys cant like this. The Stang beat the BMW in braking, 1/4 mile and skidpad lat. g's and time. It barely beat the Stang in the roadcourse and they forgot about all that. Its a hell an effort from Ford. Id still take the Bimmer though. It looks better in and out.

Time for BMW to take the M3 to Porsche 911 TT performance territory asap.

Wow. I'd take the Mustang, then spend 20k in mods and buy a beater. That way I'd kill M3s and have a sensible daily driver.

But in all honesty, they are marketed to two different types of people. The Mustang guys are happy because they now have M3-level performance, and the BMW guys don't give a crap, because they are die-hard BMW guys.

BMW guys can start using the VW defense. "Yeah but our interior is better".

In other news ...a ZR1 is faster at half the money than an Aston Martin Rapide. I mean if we are going to compare cars in completely different classes based on performance per dollar than why not?

haha! not quite

At least they are both 4 seat coupes lol
But I agree that they are for different markets, Fords aim isnt to steal M3 drivers, the price is an indicator of this, and also the fact that there are A LOT of die hard mustangs fans as well. So this performance level helps more to keep them satisfied with performance.

Very interesting, good for Ford! I don't like their $25k difference argument, BMW owners don't by them because they are the best bang for buck.
