The powerplant is obviously the biggest difference. There are also a few differences in the body.

As far as aftermarket steering wheels I think the only people making anything for domestics with airbags is Grant.

For seats you can look into all the popular aftermarket brands, as far as I know they all have brackets to bolt in whatever style you want.

Engine and brakes. Unless you get the carbon brake opt. but you will be spending close to the same price for both cars then.

I would buy a ZR1. I just can't see myself spending 95k for a Z06 when you can get a ZR1 for 105k.

ZR1 is heavier and more comfortable, it also has much better gearing without the heavy double overdrive that the Z06 has. Think of the ZR1 like the Turbo and the Z06 like the GT3.

Incorrect on both accounts. A Z06 with Z07 and CFZ packages shares the exact sames brakes as a ZR1. The list price of a ZR1 is ~120k but you can get them for ~105k; while the list price for a Z06 with Z07 and CFZ lists for ~98k but you can get them for ~84k. So you are spending around ~20k more for an LS9 over an LS7.

Wait, what? The ZR1 is heavier, but that does not make it more comfortable. You can get different trim levels on the Z06 and ZR1, but they are the exact same. The ZR1 is not more comfortable than a Z06 with Z07 and CFZ as they share the same seats, same interior and same suspension.

I have seen a lot of misinformation when it comes to the Z06 with Z07 and CFZ because of the past models of the Z06. This new model, which became available in 2011, offers the same suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, carbon roof, carbon hood, carbon front splitter and carbon sideskirts as the ZR1.

You cannot go wrong with either car. But there is just something classic about a NA 427 motor in a Corvette. And with this new package offering all of the ZR1 goodies, it is one SWEET Corvette.

So with the weight difference between the cars you don't think that despite sharing the same suspension that the suspension tuning may be slightly different? They can fine tune Magnaride in a myriad of different ways. And you didn't comment on the gearing do you believe me to be wrong about that as well?

The suspension is the same, but tuned slightly different because of the weight, yes. But the extra weight is not enough to give the ZR1 a noticeably better ride.

I didn't comment on the gearing because I agreed with you on that.

I have not driven either car but the ZR1 seems to be more of a hyper GT car and tuned to be more comfortable than the Z06. I just assumed that even with the Carbon package that the suspension tuning would follow the same path. You probably know that Magnaride can be tuned from anything from my cushy Escalade to the 599 GTB!

while I have not looked to double check - I recall the ZR1's suspension being different then the Z06. With the Carbon Edition using the upgrade like the ZR1
