This new 2012 Camaro ZL1
Come with 20"x11" rear wheels and 305 rear tires.
6-pistons caliper on the front and 4-pistons on the rear.
The hood has exposed carbon fiber insert vent.
Not too bad of a car for $58K MSRP.

The ZL1 is a great car, its just outgunned by the GT500.
While I think the '13 GT500 is just as amazing.. I think these two cars will be alot more similiar in performance, than some big difference you & others are already quick to assume. I expect the Mustang to be faster in a straight line.. but the Camaro to be king of the road track. Seems like GM was alot more focused on making sure the ZL1 handles & brakes.. as well as it accelerates. Where Ford on other hand, more concerned with "highest factory V8 output ever" and shockingly high HP numbers.

Not so fast my friend. Until a professional, non-baised party can line both of these cars up, on the dragstrip & roadracing track.. I wouldnt be so quick to jump to who has outgunned who. The Mustang wins on paper.. with higher HP & less weight, but weirder shyt has happened (GTR anyone???). And thats the reason why they still race.

I do believe the zl1 will be easier to drive fast at the track. In the hands of a professional? The SVT Team has already stated they will run the zl1 anywhere anytime. This was after their trip to Nurburgring. I believe they know something we dont.
.
Lets not forget the 200 MPH top speed in the 13 GT500. Latest, independent tests showed the GT500 reached 196 mph....bone freakin stock.

Not to derail the OP....I like what Chevy has done with the ZL-1, but, really, Ford destroyed it.
For the same price.

You are right. The mags have it testing under the zl1 in 0-40 mph times and ave lateral times. Everything else well...this includes braking

GT500 quicker in a straight line. Camaro better handling.
Still no head-to-head laptimes yet, but the story is already shaping up. I'm sure every professional car reviewing organization.. will take their turn at doing their own head-to-head shootout between this cars.. but I dont expect the results to change much. The real winner is the consumer. For under $60k.. theres two great new choices and a big sense of pride back in American vehicles. Either of these vehicles are capable of out performing competition that is priced double or triple their MSRP. They are both game changers!
