07' GT3 & 08' TT heavy clutch

Last week I was @ the dealer in Baton Rouge and got in the GT3 and the new 08 TT and was surprised how heavy the clutch was in both of these cars. And was curious if this was the way they always feel? Or is there some kind of hyd. assist or something like it that would make it easier for daily driving and stop & go traffic?
The TT was much much heavier than the GT3's but both took a fair amount of pressure to depress the pedal. Anyhow I guess I was just surprised how much heavier the pedal felt over the 996 TT's I've been in.

Really? I have found that the TT clutch is softer than the 997S.

+1, the TT clutch is softer than the 997S and the GT3 clutch is much stiffer than the 997S. Maybe the turbo needed to be started to get hydraulic assist.

The turbo has an assist that makes it 10x easier to depress than the Gt3

Were the cars running? Doesn't the clutch get heavier with each successive press if the engine is off because the assist loses pressure?

Yea the TT clutch is super light compared to even a regular 997, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Wish the brake pedal was stiffer though.

No I did not drive either of the cars. They were both inside on the showroom floor. I had just done what thousands of others had and depressed the clutch, I guess. And it took some effort. which surprised me. That is why I asked the question. I was figuring that there must be something a little different than just a straight hyd. clutch. Some sort of an assist or whatever.

Exactly, and what happens when you press the clutch a few times when the car is off.. GT3 clutch is WAY heavier then Turbo!

No not at all, it just stiffens up since the assist isnt active/flowing/running/circulating the fluids or whatever it is hah!

My GT2 clutch is always the same feel on or off, my turbo if you pressed it too many times would become rock hard!

Yes, the needle bearing in the clutch mechanism will rub against the inlet tube o-ring and ultimately cause a hydraulic fluid leak. Everyone knows that.

Just kidding, obviously I made that up. I believe each successive clutch actuation will deplete the pressure built up for the assist system making it harder and harder to push the clutch pedal in, kind of like a brake pedal. Once you start the engine, the hydraulic assist pressure will be restored and pedal effort will be normal. At least that's my theory.....

EDIT: iLLM3 beat me to it.
