Thumbs down The Collection

I guess I should've known better.
About 4 months ago I bought a set of rims from a member here on 6 speed, painless transaction. The guy worked at the collection. When I inquired about some tpms sensors for the rims, he offered me a set at/near cost...great, I bit. I paid promptly, then it's like he fell off the earth. Weeks/ months of unanswered pm/email/calls to the collection, whenever I did get through I was told 'they're on the way'. So's Christmas.
After 3 1/2 months of getting nowhere, one of the mods stepped in and they agreed to send them asap and include a partial refund for my troubles. Cudos to the mods. I'm not looking to get something for nothing, but it was a nice gesture. Well, I got the sensors late last Friday, yet to recieve any refund(not holding my breathe), doubt I ever will.
Just be careful with who you choose to deal with guys, the moral of the story is to stick with board sponsors, avoid solicitations, no matter how good the deal is from a nonsponsor.
I don't really blame the kid who was selling the stuff, sure he's just a cog in the machine. But nobody likes to be blown off after sending money, we're all busy. It's not the dollar amount, rather the business principal involved.

I'm sorry. What is "the collection?"

While I'm not a business owner, I DO like to sell stuff here on the board. I usually go to eBay for my transactions, but when there is something specifically relevent to Porsche's, I try and offer it here...I think a few people have gotten pretty good deals...ie a OEM 996 front spoiler for $250!?!

Anyways. I feel for you. When we conduct a transaction, there is a certain level of "faith" that you put into a deal. It's not the money (well...it is sometimes...) but rather the broken "faith" that leaves a sour taste in our mouths.

You have my sympathy for such a crummy transaction.

These guys need to step up to the plate and give you a significant refund, just for the trouble and aggravation. Your time is worth way more than that. Yet another place to put on my do not deal with list.
Bobby, The Collection is a high end car dealer in Miami.

Sorry to hear that you had troubles with them. You would think an establishment of that calibur(I use the term loosely) would put you through that.

I am glad you got your part but sorry to hear about the lack of refund or good faith gesture promised to you.

I have many good sources that I go to that some of you would not think at first they would be great to deal with from the looks of their site. It isn't always the pizazz that I look for its the way they handle my battery of test questions to determine their level of patience and their willingness to answer my questions. The shows me a lot of the about the character of person I am working with. The ones that calls me back when they say they will, the ones that try to earn my business will usually get it.

I hope that you get a final resolution on this matter soon. Don't businesses understand that one bad internet business transaction can be hundreds of lost sales?

Sorry to hear about your experience, I'm a little confused though. Is there a mod here associated with The Collection?

I would be pleased if The Collection burned to the ground.

I havent heard many great things about The Collection. Ive for sure heard more bad about them.

It is surprising how companies that do business on the net sometimes dont realize how one bad transaction can drag your name through the mud. The internet is the fastest way of communication ever, and had the broadest reach. You mess up a deal, and unless you have a good explanation, you can lose quite a bit of future business. Reminds me of a couple other exotic car dealers.

Sorry to hear of this - thanks for the warning. I've used the internet (eBay, this site, etc.) to buy and sell parts, wheels, etc. and have yet to have any problems (touch wood). Depending on the value, when I sell I try and get PayPal payment before the goods actually leave my possession. So far that hasn't been a problem - it requires good communication...and trust. On the buy side, communication helps seal the deal for me. Hope they take care of the problem.

Not to my knowledge.
I'm sure there's a great explanation, just waiting months to hear it.
Always treat your patients/customers how you would wish to be treated, nothing more, nothing less.
It wasn't so much the parts or the money, just the hassle factor. I don't give a rat's *** about spending another 300$ on a 130k car, that's not the point.

Wow..I used to work at the Collection and I know a few of the people that work there to this day. I've heard some bad things but have never experienced any foul play while I was working there.

Its a shame that you had to deal with something like this...
