Just wanted to say "Hi"

Hi Everyone,

<O</O<OI have been a reader on the board for a while now, never felt right to post since I didn’t own a Porsche. But now.. Picked up my 08 997 Turbo and wanted to say hello. Had the strangest thing happen to me over the weekend. I was traveling so I wasn’t able to drive the Porsche for about 2 weeks and left the radar detector plugged in. When I went to drive the car on Sunday, it was dead. Ok, no problem, I’ll just pop the hood and charge the battery. Well, looked forever for the release and then decided to check the manual (the last thing I ever do). Well, it seems if you have a dead battery you need a good battery to get to the dead battery. This is just strange, is there another way to open the hood other then with another battery? If there is, I sure cant find it…<O
<O
I also get a PCM Failure message now after I charged the battery, sounds like a dealer visit?

Anyways.... Hi Everyone!

that happens to be the only way since the hood release is based on electricity. anyways dont worry as the last guy said , all lights will clear on there own.

Congrats on the new ride! First Porsche?

Care to describe/post pics?

Bummer about the design flaw of the luggage compartment (and battery compartment). Anyway, enjoy your new car.

Been there done that. Make sure when you park your car that you lock the doors with the key fob.....it shuts the system completely down so it want drain the battery as fast. Leaving the car un-locked will allow the systems to drain the battery that much faster. You also should get the Porsche battery maintainer, if you have one the battery is covered under warranty, if you don't your not covered if you drive less than 3,000 miles per year.

I have the OEM maintainer and once I left my Valentine One on thinking that when the engine is turned off the power is off too,, but not on the TT.

Luckily the Val 1 was on but so was the OEM charger plugged in and there was no effect.

I make a concerted effort to turn off the V1 and the Escort GT2.

I always use the maintainer.
