Friends of mine wants to buy a 2008 Turbo Cabriolet. MSRP at $139.5K Not much of option, dealer give him $2K off. Is that a good deal?

Thanks!

Interesting topic. Intruding into your thread but more or less on the same topic it would be good to post current pricing and deals of not only cabs but coupes as well to get a feeler of the market.

$2k off might be good depending on how much dealers are holding the cars, obviously dealers have much more to play with than $2k but its a matter of market and specific deals and vehicle's characteristics... but you pose a very interesting topic nonetheless... lets see...

I got 5K off my coupe back in 07'. I would expect the same on a cab. now since there are a lot available for sale. When I got my 04' TT Cab i got 12K off MSRP...but that was the best deal I think could have been found.

cabs dont seem to be moving, probably a trend in cars over 100k. summers coming, any discount over 2k sounds good to me, does not hurt to ask for more.

I got $4000 off mine when ordered last September, but I had a list of well over 150K due to options. I am sure the margins on the options are higher than on the base car, giving them more room for a bigger discount. Someone else posted on another thread a couple of months ago that they had received $5000 off.

3% to 4.5% seems to be the going rate for a "reasonable" dealer on an ordered car. perhaps slightly more on one in stock.

Cost

I ordered a 08 TT coupe in Dec. Got 3k knocked off a list of 136k. Felt as if I could have gotten more from this dealer, although the other Porsche dealer in the state was stating they were sticking hard to the MSRP. I think it depends to a large degree on what your dealer's allocations are. Interestingly, the dealer that wasn't budging off MSRP now has a new Turbo sitting on their lot unspoken for. Could it be that demand is cooling a bit given all the hype about the GTR?

It all depends on the market, but I don't think $2G is good enough.

$2K on a $140K car is nothing... Shoot for $6K at least

I ask around for an 09 turbo for later this year. One dealer insist on MSRP, one said they $3K is the best they can do. I specs the car out on porsche.com, $155K including all options that I am thinking. I would think it makes business sense to give at least $5K off for a purchase like this, especially in this economy, instead of loosing a sales...

2 - 3% is the 'going' discount on cabs in Toronto. It was previously higher but two factors have reduced it:

1. the supposedly 'tight' market caused by a reduction in import numbers.

2. the fact there is no competition as it's almost impossible to import an '08 turbo.

edit: that's the offered discount. Ymmv, if you pushed and showed your money.

Overall market is very soft but there just aren't that many turbo cabs around. Porsche has cut way back on shipments to the US. It all depends on finding a dealer with a few allocations/cars left.
