Fire extinguisher mount
Fire extinguisher mount
I'm looking into tracking my car and need a fire extinguisher (2.5 lb) and mount. I've read that there are mounts that will utilize existing holes in the car (such as under driver or pass. seat).
I have the adaptive seats. Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what mounts will work best and where I might be able to get it?
Thanks.

I actually got the fire extinguisher as an option wasn't any hassle to it. I also have the adaptive seats, mounts right in front of the drivers seat. Easy to reach, and its out of the way, if you can get the OEM unit afterwards and afix that would be a great route.
Yes...the Brey Krause R-2035 should fit (retail $133). I have one that was in my 987 Boxster S that I no longer use because I "upgraded" to a 996 tt. Contact me if you need more details...

update on this. I went to mount the Brey-Krause R2035 on my sport adaptives and it will not fit. The holes exist but various electronics are in the way, and also the sport adaptives have air tubing for the bladders that run where the nut plate needs to be squeezed in. I am instead now going to try an even simpler and cheaper solution I found from SpeedTactics:
Eclou,
You saved me. I had an appointment at my shop for Wednesday to have the mount installed and some other things. I mentioned your response and the mechanic blew it off as another misinformed internet mechanic.
A few hours later he decided to check into it. He called the BK salesperson who hadn't heard of the problem. Sure enough, she got back to the mechanic and confirmed what you said.
I have a speed tactics one being fedexed now. I'll post how it goes next week.
You saved me a wasted trip and a lost DE weekend.
BTW, love those TWS vids. I used to live in Houston a few years back and took an '89 C4 there. Nice to be able to have DE events 12 mos a year.
Thanks again,
Scott

No prob Scott. I mounted the Speed Tactics mount today and it took about 5 minutes. The seats don't have to come out at all. You just unscrew the front 2 bolts, slide the mount into place (attach the extinguisher's bracket first) then re-attach the bolts. Very easy. In comparison to the Porsche factory mount, this does not move with the seat. It will limit how far forward the seat can go (no much loss of travel) and stays on the floor so leg room is better spared. In a normal seat position the extinguisher is almost hidden from normal view. I mounted mine on the passenger side. I give it 2 "around-the-world" snaps!
