A question for my Vette GURU's

Im turning 30 this yr and for as long as i can remember ive been thinking about purchasing a vette around this time.

Not new, the military doesnt pay that much ive spent alot of time reading these and viewing all the awesome pics on this site. Im starting to price the 2001-2004 or 2005 vettes.

Since my wife is giving me a hard time about buying a harley, maybe she'll allow the car lol

My questions is in terms of mileage. How many miles are too many miles on the vette. Ive had mostly honda's in my time frame and never wavered at the thought of 100k miles plus.

But the Vette will be my baby, sunny day fun weekend car. Not a daily driver. Ive seen a few cars in this yr range already over 100k.

if there are any thoughts tips anything you folks can lend a 6speed noob. id apprecaite any time you can give

I'd say 70k miles are considered somewhat high mileage on the average late-model Vette, but this is only really considered when buying or selling. Some owners swear that the car is just breaking in at 70k miles, and that it just gets better with miles.

There are many with higher-mileage, but as with most cars, the important part is how the car was maintained. Your best bet is to check out Corvette Forum. Here are a few threads to get you started:

Don't worry about high mileage on a LSx engine. I have a few friends with well over 100K and no real issues.

I have had 462,000 miles on my old 5.7 LS1.

I wouldn't worry about the motor. Chevrolet knows their small blocks.

Well the '95 isn't a LSx, must be a LT1. And 65K isn't anything LOL.

And my buddy with 130K just did a cam swap. Strong as hell and not one issue. I'd like to see a Porsche do that!
