Not trying to create any hubbub, but it seems some Dunlop's were involved...

Found this brief article talking about the 7:29 GTR lap and the madness behind it.
According to the sources they car was US customer spec riding on Dunlop SP 600s and not the Bridgestone RE070s like was originally thought also the former being standard on the cars.
Apparently the driver, Suzuki, was pulling about 1.3G's consistently in the corners with a peak of 1.4 which seems pretty impressive and perhaps a good chunk of why it did lap in 7:29.
Anyways, those are my cliff notes on a lengthy 2 page article.
Just thought I'd post here due to all the previous discussion and speculation about the lap and what exactly was involved in it.
This isn't a which is better thread but just one that might appeal to car enthusiasts...so keep the **** flinging to a minimum if you would.

So then why post?
I posted this article as relevant to previous discussions and as an informative point for discussion . Sorry I came to talk car in a car forum...
If you don't like my thread, don't post in it...no one gives a **** if you give a ****...
But thanks for your dose of asinine immaturity...grow the **** up.

If you are going to quote then quote that the tires used were thought to have shaved off 4-5 seconds off the "RING" time compared to the Bridgestones. They use them on the "STANDARD" tires of the GT-R....ummhmm
Trending Topics
Actually, the Dunlops used ARE standard. Just checked my order guide.
But clearly that was entirely too presumptuous and fanboy of me to discuss that here, so sorry, how awful of me. Also thank you for again showing that a wonderful sect of you Turbo owners are so pompous and insecure that a simple article encouraging small talk will have you in reared up in defense like I spit on your car.
Oh wait, thanks switchcars for again proving your "all-knowing" attitude isn't much more than fluff. Please do come back with something...I'd love to knock you back down another pretentious peg.
I in fact posted the article to show that it wasn't Bridgestones and the Dunlops did provided some time benefit even though they were on the standard car...it's there in the article, I wasn't trying to hide it you moron, I posted it for everyone to look at how they helped shaved off another 9 seconds. IT WASN'T A PRO GTR THREAD.
Sorry I didn't make it clear the Dunlops were an advantage, I thought that being in the title was enough sarcasm to convey that they had something to do with the faster times.

Once again I don't care about RING times because I can't get even close so no point in arguing about it. I also can't drive better than the worse MAG driver(maybe
).I like the GT-R for what it gives and that hasn't changed. The bashers and trolls were wearing on me that's all.
Just wondering why if you want the car to beat it's competetion would you test one tire and put on an "upgraded" tire that performs worse.
The "upgraded" tire is a better tire for all seasons....the Dunlop is the best dry tire, but lacks in the wet. More a choice of what type of driving you will be using it for, not which one is better or worse.
Not standard for US Markets which I don't understand. If you want to run the best time and post it then why would you use an inferior tire as an upgrade?

I have no insight on why they would have a faster tire on a standard car other than the Bridgestones apparently do better in the rain, like I said, I don't know the reasoning why. That is a point where I dunno, discussion may be possible?
Secondly, I have seen this attitude with you and other members all the time in the threads whenever something is remotely not pro-Porsche in stance. I'm sure you'd care about ring times if a 997 all of a sudden threw down a 7:25, I'm sure there would be a hundred threads about how it beat the GTR.
But to reiterate, I have said a million times I'd take a GT3 over a GTR any day of the week, I just like discussing cars. If I posted this in a Nissan forum people would just spew equally irrelevant dribble in favor of the GTR and discount the tire issue.
I found the article interesting and it cleared up some things from discussions past, I didn't want this to turn into a which car is better thread.
I posted the info to show how it got faster, and that it was a standard car and the Dunlop issue being a bit odd, hence making it to the title.
But it's the same old **** responses that start flame wars and you don't even realize I'm not on the opposite side...just not on yours either.
Strada8 - lick my nuts would ya. I have asked a question and I don't give a damn what you think. If you continue on with your attitude just create your own pro-everything but Porsche Board and STFU. You are a whiney little woman who can't stand opinion. Please quote me where I was ANTI-GT-R...Please do so since you have more time than brains.
I don't like people like you and too bad. I didn't come on here looking for people like to converse with. Your obvious disregard to opinion pro or con makes you look like the *** here not me.
I have owned many cars and I have stated several times that I would consider and most likely buy a R35 GT-R so put that in your pipe and shove it.
Now get out of your closet and do something constructive like read a book and not GT-R magazines.
Sheesh get a clue...
