Tired of your 997TT? What to do?
It's been almost 6 months since I've purchased my beauty. The car is amazing, and although the finish is top notch and the speed is ridiculous, boredom is slowly creeping in. Am I hallucinating?
Sound in a sports car is an important factor to me, and I have yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust that gets me excited like some of the ones out there for M5s.
My current situation: I am thinking of getting an M5 with the awesome Meistershaft exhaust either as a replacement to my Porsche, OR in addition to it.
Has anyone gone from a 997TT to an M5? Of course having both would be great, but owning two cars seems a bit excessive.

U may be hallucinating because i would never go from a 997TT to an M5. I dont care what exhaust is on it. The TT is just better on all levels. I give u a week and the M5 will feel like a toyota corolla!!!
agreed, A M5 as a sedan is more boring imho.
Does ur TT have a tiptronic?
What about a 997 GT3 or GT3RS, best sound in the 997 line up by far and thrilling to drive,
997 in its purest form and the new GT3 version with 440-450bhp should be available in a few months and it should be as nearly as quick as ur turbo.

I sold my M6 with Eisenman exhaust and do miss that incredible sound. I also miss the high revs and the SMG.
BUT and a big BUT, I love the look, feel, handling and size of my 6 sp TT. It's not even close in terms of comparison. The m6 felt too big. Almost like a german muscle car. The chassis dynamics were great for that car, but not at all like the TT.
I'm currently modding the TT (headers, exhaust (200 CEL), protomotive tune, HREs) and that should get me a little closer to the aural sensation of the M as well as reduce a little of the turbo lag.
While I really enjoyed the engine, transmission and sound of the big M coupe, the overall package left me missing my previous porsche experience. If I had to choose in the M family, I'd probably take an M3 over the M5/6.

I had an E60 M5. I did lots of mods to the M5 (Meistershaft, headers, pulleys, etc. etc.) and it was great no doubt. I thought the sound from that F1 exhaust was amazing and the high revving was great as well.
However, after the sound and the extra space (which doesn't mean much since I drive alone most of the time anyways), the car is quite boring.
I sold it and now have the most ultimate driving machine! I love my TT and have not missed the M5 at all!! Granted, you may never find an exhaust that will sound like the Meistershaft, (but there are some real nice sounding exhausts out there for the TT) the TT more than makes up for it in all other categories. Just my $.02.
I am sure there will be lots of members on this board that will chime in to give you more opinions about this...and there are quite a few members that currently own both or have owned both cars.

I have an M6 and a TT. I would never dump my TT to replace it with an M5 or M6. I would though add an M5 though to the stable if possible. You get the best of both worlds with an amazing sports car that can be used as a daily driver and a high speed freeway racer sedan.
