Thinking about buying a CLS55 today, I need some feedback and info on the car please!

Hey guys Im in the process of buying a Cls55 AMG, but im having second thoughts about going thru with the sale. Im basically asking if anyone on here owns one and would recomend it or look at something else. I am affraid of high gas prices becoming even higher and residual value of the car taking a dump. They are offering me a 2006 blk/blk for $49900 loaded with 34000 miles on it what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for helping me make a sound decision

I ran a 2006 sil/bl cls55 with every option for over 2 years. It was an awesome car, never gave me a problem. Very fast and handled OK for such a heavy car. I averaged 14 mpg over my 15000 mile ownership. I just traded it in for a fully loaded lexus ISF and I couldnt be happier. You just cant beat the cls' sexy looks! Good Luck

I also have a silver/black '06 CLS55 with all options, only 7k miles on it today. Bought it new - traded in a CLS500 for it. Positives: stellar straight line acceleration, unbeatable torque, unbeatable looks, four seat practicality, good size trunk, and can still be a cream puff when the wife drives it. Negatives: handling is not up there with the M5, outward visibility is slightly compromised, and the seats feel slightly hard to me when pumped up all of the way. Overall though, a great car I would recommend to any enthusiast that is not looking for the ultimate handling 4 door. $50k for 30k miles seems like a good deal. I am always looking at used sales to gauge the value of mine. I put 20 inch Brabus wheels on it and it still rides pretty well. I still like the look of the stock 19 inch wheels, but I got a good deal on the wheels - couldn't refuse. Can always go back.

I liked the engine so much I bought an SL55 but I recently sold it. I also have an M6 convertible and a 997 TT and recently had an M5, 997S, and a Lotus Elise and I still find the CLS55 to be an exhilarating drive.

Hope this helps.

I too am looking at getting an '06 CLS55. I actually test drove a loaded one today (22k miles) and it was fantastic....the MB dealer is on crack though as they are asking $66K for it. I researched a ton of them today and found a handful with less than 25K miles MB Certified for $57-59K. I just need to get a guage on what I should expect to get for my '08 335tt coupe with 9K miles.

I parked the CLS next to my car and it was not "all that much" bigger...about 8" longer I think. It is considerably wider ..............and looks alot better.

I recently sold my nicely modded 07 E92 coupe w/~10k miles and took a nasty bath on it. I took it to my BMW dealership that I bought it from, they offered me $32K and MSRP was ~49.7k.

+1 for the CLS55. I love mine but make sure you get one w/CPO.

Congrats on your 55.

I will refuse to take that kind of hit on my '08 335 coupe. I'm fairly certain I can get $40K for it on a private sale.

I was debating over a CLS55 and an E55. I ended up going with the E55 because it was a better deal for me at the time. But i enjoyed the sleek lines and more sporty updated look. The handling is better than the e55, and i think theyll hold a slightly better value because it was only produced for one year. But what do i know!
