When will the new facelift hit the stores?
You should know that the face-lifted car will have a completely new engine. The legendary bullet-proof GT1 block will be replaced by a turbocharged version of the new direct-injected engine. The new engine will likely be very good and reliable, but it is unproven at this point.
I agree, but probably mid -late next year as an 10' model.
More hp, and PDK.
It will likely weigh roughly the same as the current manual Turbo. The weight lost with the motor will be gained back with the PDK.

There was a brand new Turbo at the local dealership today that had a slightly different interior (radio/controls). It looked great. Thats not the "facelift" in question I assume. From a quick look I couldn't tell any difference in appearance.
What you saw was the '09 with uplifted interior and PCM, nothing much more. Next variant '10 will have exterior changes and different engine.
Gotcha. I wonder what that will do to the values of earlier Turbos? Perhaps some patience is in order when shopping right now.

I think the release date will hinge greatly on how well sales go for Porsche in the current economy . The entire auto industry has faced a slow down and with the Tubo being one of the higher priced vehicles they may decide to hold until all the parts are used and sold .
You guys are guessing 2010 model year . I think its hard to say .
I won't buy the new Turbo and have yet to drive the PDK but am very fond of the manual .
I would like to keep my Turbo for a long time , keep my M3 , and eventually sell the Honda and get a 997.2S . I kinda miss the normally aspirated car too but I also miss the DOW at 14000 .
I can wait .

PDK is NOT for me. It will never be as easy to maintain and replace as a manual, nor will it be as fun. But I respect it as a upgrade to the Tip, though the tiptronic will still be a stronger unit.
I'm also interested in seeing how Porsche manufacturers a lighter block and less moving parts and how they hold up. It has some big shoes to fill. I think it will hold up to stock power level fine, but the modability will decrease quite a bit. I think the 800+ hp kits will cost tons more, but up to 700 and a tad over will be ok, and I'm fine with that.
resale on 07 and 08 will remain strong (all things - i.e. the economy - considered) vs. the new engine TT. Thats my opinion anyways. Its a legendary block and I think it will remain a wee bit closer to enthusiasts hearts not unlike, but perhaps not on the same level, as the last of the aircooled turbos.
