Porsche turbo in 2010

Sports and Luxury Auto mag this month says that new version of Turbo is due in 2010 sporting sharply revised front and rear end styling with PDK transmission, and including direct fuel injection and reworked exhaust to give 500HP. Sounds great to me. Would be one hell of a car not to worry about that 1st to 2nd shift coming on so fast anymore. Nothing on price, however. Anyone hear anything different???

I would be surprised if the PDK is beefed up enough to handle the torque that early. Im sure it will happen but 2010 is rather soon for a company not exactly speedy in its updates.

But a turbo w/ PDK is going to be a monster so long as that new engine delivers the goods anyways.

Regarding price, my gut tells me the next turbo will be considerably more expensive and produced in lower numbers thanks to the state of the global economy.

Even the wealthy are cutting back, just check out Ferrari sales figures for last month!

Maybe not. By dropping the GT1 engine, and turbo being applied to the regulat 997 engine, I'm told savings may be as much as 15-20K.

Total savings for Porsche, but probably not the consumer. Doubt they will drop the price accordingly to maintain sales.

I cant recall any time Porsche passed along the savings to the customer. To drop say $20k would put the Turbo at 'nicely optioned' 997.2 territory and we all know thats not going to happen.

Me too (though I bagged the xm).

I didn't think Porsche would dare lower the price. I just thought it was unlikely that there would be anything other than the typical small bump with the next model, given the huge savings will give them a huge bump in profit/car.

30 gig ipod dedicated to car, that just stays in the arm rest. Permanent music selection of my choosing, with nothing further to do.

I'll survive without the AXC/DC channel. A burden, yes. But I'm tough.
