Very good driving, he seems a bit more familiar with the ring than he does the car. That being said, he drove the wheels off of it. Tires are probably shredded lol

 

Excellent driving. Keeping your foot planted in a street car on a road course with 638hp takes some nuts and skill.

I wonder why the video was cut for a bit as they came into the carousel?

Any Germans here that can translate what they were saying as they came of the course?

 

No helmet for the passenger?

 

You don't have to wear helmets on the Nurburgring....

 

That is Jan Magnussen, Corvette Factory Racing driver (and who tried to cheat at laguna seca vs the RSR), he surely knows the ZR-1 and corvettes in general. I'm wondering why they wouldn't let him run a full timed lap to see the full potential of the car.


On a side note though the shifts sound so crisp and the exhaust note is unbelievable, love it!

 

It's a couple of years old run. Remember him quoting (on his website I think) that it was one of scariest moments in his life in a car. The car came airborne on 4 wheels at times. Wasn't confident with the car set up at all. The car companies are pushing the test drivers for that magical Nordschleife lap time more and more and it's a matter of time until someone's gotta get hurt seriously.

Are you sure you're talking about the same deal here? What you are referring to is Jan Magnussen setting a 1:42 in a Z06, this video is Jan giving joyrides in a ZR-1.

The ZR-1 hasn't been out for a couple of years.

 

If the driver is wearing a helmet you should be too. I for one would not want to have been on that ride without a helmet, even though the driver can drive!

If you are on a racetrack you should be wearing a helmet, rule or not!
