Ferrari 458 vs Turbo S vs Techart 620 bhp (actual figures)
Hi
Not trying to start a fight here, but just trying to add something to the conversation (data).
There is a lot of talk about how the 458 is faster based on a few internet videos. I like videos, but like facts even more.
The turbo s should beat the 458 also without flashing and also at high speeds. Videos are unreliable, without knowledge of fuel octane, amount of gas, tire conditions, driver skill etc,:
Here is some actual data comparing the two. I have not seen contradictory data yet.
Autobild sportcars 10/2010 tested them both and actually a techart turbo also:
Turbo S /Techart 620bhp/ Ferrari 458
0-100km/h 3.1/2.9/3.3
0-160 6.5/6.2/6.9
0-200 10/9.4/10.4
1/4 mile 10.90/10.91/11.2
Road and track:
458/turbo s
0-60mph 3/2.6
0-100 6.7/6.3
0-120 9.6/9.2
1/4 mile 11@128.5/10.7@128.9

I love the Ferrari 458 and now it is fast, faster than my 480 bhp turbo, but wouldnt go as far as saying it is faster as the unbelievably fast turbo S.

These numbers are for standing starts where grip and traction and gearbox contribute to faster 0-xxx times... ,,, in rolling races things are diffrent..
Not true. You can calculate 100-200 times feg. Still faster.
My previous 997 turbo with 550hp will leave my 997 gt2 bone stock dead from a standing start up to 220kms the GT2 using launch control..
But from a 100km 3rd gear or 2ns gear 70 km roll the GT2 leaves the 997 turbo right away...
The 0-200 times are tested from standing starts which differ from 100-200 in gear acceleration...

Yes, you can calculate from 100-200, but that's only for a short distance. The higher the speeds, the faster the 458 will get over the 997....as seen in the videos.
..Ferrari fan-boys .. Catch uppppp "not"

The videos were from 50 upwards and the 458 won and the turbo s is faster there (60-120mph) as shown in the data, so in the videos the turbo should be pulling first and then the 458 should pull away.
Turbo lag might play a role, but that is the only explenation I would understand.

They are numbers of independent car magazines vs someones home videos without any numbers or other information? Dont understand your comment.
Please post vbox data from the videos and I will believe them.

From a roll, I'll give the 458 the edge every time up to 160. Flash the 997 and it a different story, however.

The magazine numbers show that the cars are very close up to around 130 mph or so. The videos verified this. It was at higher speeds (past 100) where the 458 really started to gain, and the faster they went...the faster the 458 was over the Turbo S. The videos verified this as well.

No disrespect, but I don't think any cares whether you believe them or not.

Well we have come to an agreement, from 0-200 the turbo S is faster and from that point on they are very close!

I honestly don't care either way. I don't have a dog in this fight. You created this thread, not me.
I agree wholeheartedly. From a dig, the Turbo S is faster. Even the owner of the 458 admitted that in his posts.
