2011 Turbos: cost/HP/transmission
2011 Turbos: cost/HP/transmission
This should be correct:
*2011 turbo, $130K, manual trans, all wheel dr, 500HP, 0-60 (3.7).
*Turbo S, $160K, auto-PDK trans, all wheel dr, 530HP, 0-60 (3.0),
*Turbo GT2 RS, $245K, manual trans, rear wheel dr, 620HP, 0-60 (3.5).
Looks like if you want a '"manual trans"with more than 500HP, Porsche will give you one, but w/o all wheel dr at double the cost.
Really makes no sense why the Turbo S has to have only the wretched automatic-PDK.
Anyone know if one can order the GT2 w/o RS packange which should bring GT2 cost closer to a Turbo S?

GT2 production ended in 2009, with a total of 205 cars imported to the US market from 2008-2009. Incidentally, the GT2RS is not a package, and all production units have been sold and delivered.
You can purchase a used GT2 for about 130-150K depending on the mileage, however, the cars are few and far between. Total numbers of 2008, 2009 GT2s + 2011 GT2RSs combined in the US are still fewer than all other production 911s. In any case, the only GT2s or GT2RS you will be able to purchase from the 997 series will be used.

Just want the beef. In all that fluff $$$-cheese is always waste...I just want >500 factory-warranteed HP with a manual trans. Is that asking for too much

Are you opposed to tuning your car? You could make up the difference easily with very simple bolt ons, as you already have an exhaust. As you are in Florida, there is one tuner that will honor Porsche's warranty with a tune - Champion.
Then wait for the 991 or go for a used 09 GT2 with low miles and a CPO.
There are two 2008 GT2's in the Dallas area - one w/ 10,924 miles for $136.0 and the other with 8,053 for $125.9. Also another in California - 6,700 miles for $136.9.

My GT2 belonged to Ken Lingenfelter, who kept it in his showroom with 115 miles on the odometer.
And there's this GT2 in the Bay Area (with a few Switzer extras) - no affiliation to seller.

Wow - how did you find it? I'm always amazed when I see a Vette and how large it looks but the body dimensions are almost the same as the 997 - I think the 997 may even be longer.

It must be a marketing gimic to see how many $5K PDKs Porsche can force down the public's throats. Long term, there's a lot more cash in PDk than in the simple 1-clutch system.

Somehow, the real question was missed. I was trying to figure out why Porsche provided only the auto-PDK for the turbo S with no sign of a manual trans. It can't be a weakness in the one clutch system because both the GT2 and GT2 RS versions still retain it, but you lose AWD which I feel is the real value in these P-turbos. Maybe the FWD portion can't hold up with these true racing cars, but for the street, imo, AWD is what gets these turbos off the line far in front of any burning rubber-only RWD (no slicks) car, turbo, supercharged, nitrous or whatever.

Unfortunately, there are a few high performance automakers who have completely abandoned manual transmission for double clutch. I fear the future if Porsche heads in that direction as well.
