New to the forum, looking to buy a Porsche Turbo, is this a good price?

I have a dealer willing to sell an 05 Turbo S w/ 3 owners, and a clean history for $56K (Down from $59K) with 56K miles.

I've read up a little on 911's and Turbo's seem to be one of the most reliable. It's not a CPO and the dealer stated they can't CPO a car thats older than an 06 model, which I don't believe is true.

They've had the car for almost 60 days, but she says they can't go any lower on the price.

Checked NADA and KBB, and the price quoted above seems more than fair. Is it a good deal? At that mileage, would a clutch replacement be in the near future?

Try the 996/GT2 page as well for help/answers. 997TT's used are twice the price and up (+/-) compared to 996's pricing. 80 Schillings is selling his 996 GT2

I think I'll just wait it out till around the fall, to see how low the prices dip. Now is probably the worst time to buy a Cab.

You are right on there - wait to buy a cab after the summer. The pricing on the car you mentinoed is high given the miles - you can do better for a 996 TTS - lower miles, similar price.

If you are considering a GT2 if you like the color at all I would buy this one - it is unique and collectable and price right! (Assuming it has not bad history).

There is a 2004 X50 cab - black/grey with 32k miles for $61.5k listed - which is a better starting point for sure.

Good luck with your search!

56K woild buy one heck of a 997S . It won't have the straight line power of the 996 Turbo but has a lot of other features worth considering .

1) The body structure of the 997 is a great improvement .

2) The interior is leaps above the 996 .

3) price is in CPO territory.

4) The lighter normally aspirated car does have some agility and without Turbo lag of the 996 is very seamless in how it accelerates.

5) The interior technology is awful on both but is deplorable on the 996.

6) The xenon lights are not only hideous .. but mine wy 02 996 lights were stolen by light theives.

I searched and found an old article from 2004 . It shows how bad the problem was. http://www.search-autoparts.com/sear.../detail/109550

Even the 997 can be stolen and one of my neighbors (he posts here occasionally ) posted about it too . I found his post.
Paragraph 1 of post number 50 he expresses that his 997 lights were stolen three times. one of which was when he was getting a haircut. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post1907119

Yep it's "nuts" .. but according to the body shop at the time .. the 996 was easy for them. The 997 is harder .
In fact it may actually be a good question when having a 996 inspected if one does buy the car .
