Americans, Expensive Cars and Lakes.
Maybe you guys have probably already seen this and i know its not specifically porsche related but just wanted you turbo guys to see this story. Gotta love the comments of the guys who filmed this
.
And talking about getting busted big time for making a bogus claim. Driving a car like this is bound to attract interest but on this occasion that interest is actually what blew his game. Can you see any pelican?

This is being discussed on several other boards as well. In my opinion, it will be a difficult case for the insurance company to win. The video alone is not enough to prove that the driver did it intentionally. Insurance company insured it for 2.2M, accident happened, they need to pay up.
I can see it potentially being a problem for the driver if the video is SIGNIFICANTLY different than what was stated on the police report. Pelican or not, it's very easy for a driver to get distracted and drift lanes. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lane here...only a lake. Then you have the video. A grainy video from some kid's cell phone camera (probably). How easy do you think it would be to alter the video? I hope the source of the video is also brought in for questioning. So many holes here that will let the driver walk away with the money.
I didn't read the specific link you posted, but other stories mentioned him obtaining an interest free loan to obtain the car. That's irrelevant. He could have paid $2 for the car. Unless the lawyers try to incorporate it into some type of "premeditation".

. Not a bad return, 1 mil for 2 plus get the use of a car like that. Perfect!..(well nearly).Yes very bad luck for the car....and now the owner.
.Anyone read the comments at the very bottom of the article? Very funny

The killer will be his story doesn't match the video and the informant to the insurance company that he want him to steal the car then burn it.
I would be the insurance company walks away paying nothing and he agrees so he does not go to jail.
Just like these two dumbasses. Now have a felony warrant out for racing that caused an injury. I bet insurance fraud and giving false information to the police will be next. You never know who is watching now.

It is after all a very hard call for anyone to make when you look at the parties involved. It may well come down to the tossing of a coin
