Modded GT2 Vtgs vs Modded 997tt Vtgs...Result inside
Since it is my first thread here. I hope it will be good info for u guys.
Cars: Both cars has tip tranny.
Mods: Both cars has same 700/750hp kit ( one has modded gt2 and the other one has modded oem vtgs *( bigger comp wheels, clipped turbine and extrude housing ).
Result: We did several rans and got same results. Rolling from 80kmh to 300kmh both rans neck2neck.
I know some guys think to get those damn expensive gt2 turbos but as u see it is not worth it IMO!

That isn't a big surprice because the biggest difference between turbo's and GT2's turbocharger is the compressor. If both have similar modded compressors and tune the results should be the same.
Differences in turbine side are (according to the info I've gathered) 15 deg clip on GT2's wheel and housing area. 4.05 cm2 vs. 4.26 cm2.

I don't think it is specifically modified to match gt2 spec but they flow same as gt2 turbos

Tried same experiment on my car with optimised tunes for both setups. The modded GT2 VTGs made around 20-25hp more than modded TT ones on same dyno. The larger housings of the GT2 units make for better flow and IAT on higher gear accelerations. IAT also stay lower because of same reason. However you do get a bit more lag because of the above.
Unless you specify with the ECU the new parameters (torque targets etc) there would not be a substantial power difference between the 2. But if you do then there will be.

both were optimised by same tuner. clipped turbine, cut back etc.
Not sure what you mean by extrude housing on the tt ones? The housings of the GT2 are quite a bit bigger, not sure if its possible to retrofit housings.
