Insurance help

I've had my insurance through mercury for nearly 10 years and my wife and I have both our cars with them (BMW 530 and Nissan Murano), full coverage etc and we've been very happy with the premium and coverage to date

well when I called them to add the turbo last week they quoted me ~$900/yr to add the turbo to our existing policy. Today they called me to tell me they had incorrectly designated the turbo as a 911 Carrera S and that the Turbo is classified as an "exception" vehicle due to the power. New premium for the turbo is $2680/yr

In any case this is ridiculous and I'll be shopping for a new insurance carrier. Any recommendations out there from folks about policy, coverage and premiums?

thanks
Art

Age?

Accident history?

Location of the vehicle?

I pay about $560 twice a year, $1K collision/comprehensive deductible through American Family, unfortunately, I don't think they have coverage in your area.

I have Geico, We all have a clean license, 1 accident in last 5 years, we got ourt deductible back as the other driver was found at fault (blown stop sign). We have 5 cars on the policy. I got a quote of 1200/year for the TTS. At first renewal it went to 2345/year. I said why? They said that the repair parts on this car, in theor experience are expensive and therefore the statistics used to create rates for these cars doubled! I shopped it, found slightly better rates (less than 100/yr savings in the 911 so I left it but I was pissed)

39, married, 1 minor accidents (wife had a small fender bender 5 years ago), vehicle in northern CA. other than the turbo the insurance coverage and premium is good. I liked it better when they thought it was a 911 S

anybody have allstate? they have my home coverage, thinking they may give me a deal to cover the turbo

I too have Geico. Used to have Allstate (they suck), hence, why I have Geico now. I may be overpaying too. Paying $2800 per year for 4 cars (clean record). Allstate wanted lots more, even when they had my home insurance. Now all in with Geico. Subscribed to this thread as relation with Geico may be numbered.

$560 twice a year is dirt cheap. Btw

Wow. Guess uninsured drivers and accident ratios drive prices up in CA. I'm 44, we've got clean licenses and paying $596 per year on the Turbo with Erie Insurance. $1,400 for all three vehicles combined.

I had the same exact thing happen to me with safeco. I switched to state farm and got a good amount of discounts. Good luck on getting a good price it's out there shop around.

SBTTS is infamous around these parts
I pay a little less than $600/6 months with State Farm on a 2012 TTS 918 Edition coupe. I have all my insurance with them so get multi-car, and multi-line discounts. The car is rated at less than 7500 miles per year, have a clean driving record (not sure how)--the Valentine sure helps that. I live in Orange County, CA where rates aren't cheap, but better than LA County

now that sounds more reasonable. Mercury said they don't cover turbos and had to get an exception from HQ to allow coverage. They also wouldn't cover my 1965 cobra replica when I had that.

based on the feedback here it sounds like there's coverage to be had around $1000 give or take so I've got some phone calls to make on Tuesday

I am at 2600/year for 2011 TTS cab. Travelers insurance That includes discounts for multicar, home, umbrella, etc.

No accidents or tickets. Married, over 40.

My 07 turbo was half that. Not sure where to go.
