Ford GT Build (lots of pix)

So I decided to start a little project on my GT the other day. The goal is 1000+ HP with supercharger and pump gas. I still can’t find a turbo motor that I personally enjoy driving more than the supercharged motor (no question that a turbo is a more efficient apparatus).

I have done this in stages because I knew the desired power was going to take a comprehensive build. I began with the fuel system (and a 4.0L whipple).

Mechanical Pump seemed to be the option that offered the most long term flexibility. A Kinsler Tuff Pump was the choice for me. Kinsler offered a lot of technical support and experience for us to lean on as the build progressed.

Among many changes, this new fuel system required a return style fuel system and some heavy duty inconel heat shields.

The next two stages came at basically the same time. One: Engine Build, Two: MoTeC Install

I sent the motor to Accufab for the engine build. John Mihovetz seems to have a pretty good handle on the Ford mod motor. We did the full workup. He said the motor was good for 1700hp via turbos but couldn’t say what it would do with a big meat grinder on top. Billet Crank - J&Es - big ports - racing cams - you know, the works…

We threw a Tilton 4-Disc Carbon clutch in there and a little blue pill, just for good measure.

Had to walk out for lunch. Here are a few of the MoTeC stuff. Added: traction control, boost by gear, knock sensors, launch control, flex fuel capabilities. It should be really trick when its all done.

Also bumped up to a 4.5L Whipple 2000cc injectors and 2x1000hp honeywell intercooler cores.

I love your build, i been following your build for quite some time. I like your intercooler setup as well.

Yes, this is the "Fugitive Recovery" GT. I have removed the wrap but might redo it in a few months. I am going to enjoy the car in it's natural state for a while. The cop wrap was insanely fun on the street tho. It would part cars on the highway like Moses and the Red Sea.

AWESOME!! That's the first word that came into mind seeing what you've done so far. This is definitely how to do a proper big power build. Btw could always keep the S/C and add some turbos on to it, like how mullet has his FGT setup. Yours should be quite the monster once everything is all said and done.

Agreed, in retrospect the TT/SC combo would have been the smart way to do it. I have never been accused of taking the easy route. When this car is done, it will either been unbelievably badass or a mind boggling money pit forever and ever. Either way, it's all mine!

I'd say that it will likely end up more on the badass route. From everything you've shown so far you're doing things the right way the first time, rather than having a catastrophic failure somewhere after the build is done.

I think I am getting near the end of this build. Honestly, it's been so long I don't even think about it any more. There were a lot of folks at Kinsler that helped but we really only dealt with Jim Kinsler. He was awesome, tons of extra insight on the project. Between, Jim Kinsler, John Mihovetz and Dustin Whipple this has been an All-star build. My builder, Shawn Fischer, spoke with a lot of the guys who were part of the GT build team too. It's been a ****load of fun. I hope it works.
