Question **Race exhaust 997 GT2**

Hey guys, what is the best exhaust setup to run on a 997 GT2? Im looking for the best performance and not worried about it being too loud. The car will be used mostly on the track. I have read on the forum that a bunch of guys are getting the most power from going catless and straight out.. I asked my porsche guy today and he said he doesn't recommend touching the cats only going straight out through the mufflers. He was saying taking the cats out can mess with the the turbos and cause them to overheat..Also said that guys who have taken the cats off actually lost horsepower on dyno. Just trying to get some insight from guys who have been down this road.

Thank you!

On that car, cat bypass with the factory Titanium muffler works and sounds great. With a tune only the car will be a reliable beast and absolutely gain!

thank you! so you think cat bypass is the way to go..thats what i thought as-well. What did he mean when he said that can damage the turbos and cause them to overheat?

If your tech is telling you your turbos will overheat by removing the cats and reducing backpressure, you need to find a new tech.

yeah i was quite thrown off because i had always heard different.. The "tech" that told me this was the service manager at my local Porsche dealership.. thats why i wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts were. He said they build out the stock exhaust muffler pretty much so it turns into a straight pipe and then they create a custom tune.

It's funny those guys barely see GT2's too. It's just not their thing to know aftermarket or racing (in most cases but not all).

When I first bought my GT30/76 GT2 the dealership tech told me I needed a throwout bearing asap. I said the noise is normal...he said "I do this for a living"...I said you "work on 700rw cars w tripple carbon disc clutches?" His basic response was clutches are clutches.

Hi

We can offer you a race Kline exhaust system. We can make it from INCONEL 625 if you want.

porscheboy997...where in Florida are you located? You should definitely try to stop by our shop sometime. It sounds like you're getting a lot of misinformation to be perfectly honest.
