May be making a move from a GTR to 997.1TT

Hey guys, long time member of this wonderful site. Always wanted a 911 turbo. I've had my GTR close to 2 years now and the car is great, fast, fun, get attention etc. However. I'm a car enthusiast and want to experience ownership of the best cars I can afford.

The 997.1TT is what I want next, I love modding cars. My gtr is a high 10 second car that traps over 130mph.

Few questions as I search this winter.

1. What's the best sound system to replace the screen and PCM in the car? Pioneer etc? Suggestions please.

2. I'm used to having a modded car, which has been dead reliable so far. And I love to modify, what type of mods am I looking at for this 911 to keep up with my GTR from a roll? I love highway pulls. BTW i'll be looking for a 6 speed.

3. What are the must have options on this car? Sports seats for sure is my choice, I may even splurge and go for a convertible. Ideal would be a guards red car. My gtr is red and I'm in love with the color.

4. Exhaust options, I love to hear something scream, but my current gtr is full catless and very loud. The novelty wore off. I'd like a car that can cruise on the highway and be able to listen to music, but if I get into the throttle i'd love to hear it scream, suggestions please.

If things go well this would be an awesome move.

Coming from a GTR I would recommend a turbo with a rear LSD its not standard on those cars.

did not know that, thank you. What is the option code for that?

Another question. Are the sport seat's brackets easily change to give more headroom? I'm 6'3 and it's a tight fit in some cars.

I;m 6'2 and find that the turbo has plenty of headroom. I have adaptive sport seats.

If you are into modding your cars, consider an aftermarket LSD, as the OEM is very weak.

Too bad I'm not trying to sell my car (I'd have to convince you to get the "faster" tiptronic trans-aka automatic) Its red, cab, and has all the Champion
werks carbon fiber and their "power kit" and more. Can't tell where you are located-if in south florida I'd be glad to let you check it out. If you can wait, go to their open house in Dec. you'll see several modded 997.1's. good luck

Stock turbos, 997.2 intercooler upgrade, your pick of x-pipe catless exhausts, and a flash tune (Protomotive is fantastic) should keep up with a GTR. Are you running E85 in the GTR?

Protomotive's E85 calibration with injectors, and FPR is pretty amazing. You'll need to upgrade the clutch pretty much no matter what you do, the factory clutch doesn't last long once you flash the car.

I'm running 94oct pump, we don't get e85 here.

between an 07 and 08 any changes? Ceramics a must? I will do lapping days, not that great of a driver, just started lapping this year.

What are the maintenance costs of the CCB's?

Exciting, over the winter if the prices drop a bit more since the 991tt are coming out. It will be a bargain car. Finally my first 911

Just kkep in mind, those mods on the 911 will be 3x what they were on the Nissan, then add $3500 for the installed Sachs 2.5 clutch....don't ask me how I know this

I have had 3 997.1TT and would suggest going with a 997.2 PDK.

The PDK is so much better than the TIP, I would never have considered a TIP car no matter how cheap it was but the PDK is fantastic. Stick with the cars with the 3-spoke PDK Sports Steering Wheel with Shift Paddles. The LED lights and corning lights are great. The stereo with touch screen, USB and Bluetooth makes it usable and not worth replacing. The option of center lock wheels are great pared with ceramics you get great braking with little dust. The .2 cars seems to handle much better than my .1 and seems to be much more planted, might be the magnetic motor mounts. The DFI 3.8 motor is great, add in the LC and SCP and the car is almost unbeatable and sure seems that it has more than 20hp over my .1 car.
