Aftermarket 997.2 TTS IC's, what options do I have?

Hello,

We were at the track yesterday and my friend's 997.2 Turbo S was having problems with one of his intercoolers, we took it down and it's leaking all over.

Since he's not into the modding world, he asked me to find out if I could get him some better intercoolers.

So I know 997.1 get everything, but what options do I have for 997.2?

Thanks.

An intercooler is leaking? They are air to air, how is it leaking all over the place? The 997.2 are the best intercoolers without spending a fortune.

"Leaking"? I'm assuming holes/air leak somewhere. Hopefully warranty would cover it.

But if not under warranty, call Champion Motorsports. Their 997.2 intercoolers have fantastic build quality and flow a lot better than the already good stock 997.2's.

By leaking I meant the plastic parts that connect to the tanks are not sealing perfectly.

No Warranty in Colombia.

It is common for the plastic end tanks to leak, especially at the higher boost levels. The Champion Motorsport intercoolers are what we recommend on the .2. If you are tracking the car a lot, you might also want to look into supplementary water-methanol injection to stabilize IAT's in the hotter climates.

Bummer about the warranty Mario. I think the Champion intercoolers will fare much better than the stock ones. Give Tom@Champion a call or one of their vendors Emmanuele Design (Thomas) below. I would be worried about repairing the stock ones particularly if I was tracking the car.

Couldnt the dump valves be responsible for this? If they dont dump fast enough when you let off the throttle there will be a huge boost spike?

Ofcourse a IC with welded end-tanks are stronger, but maybe this isnt the forst thing to fix?

Dump Valves? What exactly are those?

The car has brand new Blow off valves, from Forge.

However, the passenger side intercooler bottom hose was being spit out every time during a hard pull. Even after tightening properly. And they are silicone hoses.

Same thing, either you dump excess pressure back into the inlet side of the turbos or blow to atmosphere, nevertheless checking the function of the forge ones could be well spent time?

If you log boost pressure before throttle, how high does it spike?

The Forge valves are not blow off valves, they are recirculation valves a.k.a. BRVs. BTW, are you using stiffer springs or regular springs inside the pistons?

Oh yea my bad they're Diverter valves.

We used the spring recommended by Champion which is the middle one.

I thought they offer only two sets of springs. Normal(stock car) and stiff(tuned car). What is the middle one?

They actually offer four spring profiles, but the DV's will usually ship with one or two springs depending on the application.

If I recall correctly, Mine and my friends came with 3... Stock, Medium and stiff. I don't remember the colors, but we used the medium setting one.

Mine were put in the valves by Tom at Champion.
