997.1 Turbo-curious

I just got a look at this one yesterday:

http://porscheofthevillage.com/certi...90685/info.php

Fantastic looking car in person. Traditional 6-speed and I think it's the Mezger engine (3.6). I also heard the 3.6 Turbos don't have the IMS/RMS issues?

7-year old car with 25k miles. Just curious as to reliability on 997.1 Turbos...have never owned one. Thanks.

These are very reliable cars!!! The price on this one is, IMO, is $10k too much. I like the reassurance of a CPO and was going to point you to one locally, but it sold ('07, 40k miles $65k with 14 months of CPO remaining). I've owned 2 '07 turbos, an '08 GT2 and now my '11 turbo - i've never had an issues (all modified and still not an issue) - Good luck with the hunt.

nsurg is infamous around these parts

See my comment on your other thread, OP (may be helpful to condense these), but I think the guards red without sport chrono is a ripoff and will have poor resale without sport chrono. Do keep in mind that buying a porsche that is "certified" means nothing if it is not from an authorized porsche dealer or from a private party that currently has it certified. If it so much as sits on the lot of a non-certified dealer, the certified status is null and void (and this is easy to find on the internet).

That ruby red turbo has one of the better interior exclusive options around. Personally I think it should be around $4k less but with all those options I'm sure the original sticker on that car was in the high $140's to low $150's. The carbon interior needs to be seen in person to really appreciate it. Wish I had seen this car a week earlier!

Not an issue until you have an engine or trans problem and your computer info is email to Porsche before the $$$$$ warranty work is done.

I would never buy a turbo without Sport Chrono no matter how great a deal it is. This should have been an option on the car to begin with, maybe a option delete but should be standard equipment.

100% correct, the CPO is voided when traded in to a non-certified Porsche dealer, remains on a private party sale.

I'd contact the owner...not sure what he's asking. It's CPO too, that much I know.

That is a new one on me, with all the electronics and wires along with cutting a hole in the dash would be crazy hard and very expensive.
