Pads for PCCB brakes on a 997.1 TT. Which ones to choose?

Hi guys, this is my first post!
I am located in Greece and I have a nice 997.1 TT, artic silver with cocoa leather.
last month I was in Monza circuit for a trackday and now I need new pads.
I have found OEM pads for 1000euros and Texstar ones for 600Euros.
the serial numbers are the same.
The question is:
is it true that Texstar is the manufacturer of OEM pads for Porsche PCCB and the extra cost id brand packaging?
I will not go for anything besides Texstar so if you have any experiences please let me know. I am a bit worried for the disks, in Porsche the y keep saying that ONLY OEM pads will not harm the disks...
what do you guys say?

Hello,

You can also use Pagid RS PCCB suitable model.

They are longer lasting for trackdays.

Regards,
Emre

Not to hijack the thread a little, but are there any pads that help with the PCCB squeal?

In general 35 to 40k miles regardless of how it inspects. The suspicion is that pccb damage is likely and primarily from a damaged pad destroying the disc, and not the disc breaking per se. The cost is so cheap relatively that it's pointless to wait longer.

Fwiw and to best of my knowledge there has not been even one credible case of pccb damage in non track usage, for the second generation pccb in our 997 Turbo. There has not been a case of the disc needing replacement from wear and tear either.

You are welcome. The first generation of PCCB was problematic, something like spontaneous combustion, in the brake, not the engine LOL. Second generation was released to best of my knowledge with 996 TT S (??), towards the end of 996 TT's lifetime, and it has been bullet proof.

One theory for damage of PCCB at the track is that traction control or poor usage of brake leads to heating and then destruction of the pad, if drivers don't recognize this, then afterwards the exposed metal part of the pad destroys the PCCB disc.

For street usage, PCCB is practically indestructible and truly feels like being stopped by the hands of God. Every time I switch from my Turbo to my old Toyota Landcruiser, if I am not careful I would get so scared for applying brake too late and nearly running over people.

To add to cannga's informative post, here's what my service advisor told me. The pads start with about 13 mm of material, the warning goes off what the pads reach about 3 mm. My car has 30 K and my pads now have 7-8 mm left, which is pretty amazing life. He also told me the discs will last forever if pads are changed on time. As the pads get thinner they don't dissipate heat as well putting the discs at risk. For that reason I plan to replace my pads when the get to about 5 mm left. If any forum experts have a different view please set me straight....
