I have searched and can't seem to answer the following as it regards to TPMS sensors.
My sensors went out a few months ago and I have had enough -- it is nice knowing what the pressure is on the tires at all time so I am trying to get this addressed.
I was going to order a set (I still might) but a friend of mine had these from previous wheels he had on different 997 cars and I figured I would give it a shot..
I have a total of 7 of these tpms, but I am unsure if these will work with my car (997.1).
The first 2 are dated in May 2013 so they are fairly new. One has a 997 part number (997 606 02101) and the other one doesn't...? The valve stems seem to be permanently attached to the sensors too...

Then I have a couple from January 2011 and from November 2010. These have the same part numbers as the above (997-606-02101). These don't have the stems attached to them.

I also have these 3 other with the same part numbers but 2 of them are from March 2008 and one from June 2008.

All of these were working when they were removed...but, not sure what the life expectancy of these sensors is when they are not installed and giving readings. I was going to try with the pics from the first 2 photos.
Any comments and feedback? I was told the "orange" tpms are fairly new and that the older ones were black or silver.
Thanks!!

The stem itself is something you can add to any of these. I think they are sub $10 if you go aftermarket. I believe normal life for sensors is around 6-7 years as I recall so I'd go with the newest. The main difference between years is the frequency. As long as you have that correct and have the right part number you should be fine. There are 315Mhz and 433Mhz I believe. Do some google searching to confirm which you need.
I use these (except for a 2008 turbo): http://www.oewheelsllc.com/TPMS-Sens...T#.U9Qhn-NdWSo
Suncoast sells Porsche tpms for $132.91 each ($173 normal retail at most P-dealers).
OE Wheels are $46 each and they will sell separate stems for $4.95 each if you just need a stem or two. Take them into a tire shop and have them installed for the same price as a tire mount.
I would not use the older ones (2011 and older) as they could go at any time and if it were me, I'd just pop for four new ones and be done with it for at least a few years. That said, both Porsche and aftermarket tpm sensors are notoriously inaccurate so keep a good tire gauge handy but at least they will keep the idiot lights and chimes from annoying you to death!

I see there are 2 different frequencies...433mhz and 315mhz. Do you know how would I go about finding out which ones I have? Is it based on year or vin#?
Our frequency is 433 mhz. I don't know how I know that except I've never seen anything else. If you look at OEWheels main page, you can see how many different applications there are just for Porsche. That's why using their search function to get the correct one is important unless you want to pore over 10 pages of sensor choices!

Yes, installed them May, '13 and everything is good. Bent one stem and the replacement was five bucks.

OE sells more than one brand. I just bought a set of 4 Titans plus black stems (they come with chrome), and paid $160.95 delivered. $20 less if chrome stems is what you need. They work fine.

just wow. You have patience . You actually whip out a tire gauge , everytime you take it for a spin? I know its safer, but that seems crazy to me , no offense . Could be me being very lazy.
