997.2 Turbo S HWY gas mileage?

Hi,

I traded a 2008 Turbo for a 2011 Turbo S.

THE worst mileage I ever got on the 2008 was 12 city, 18 HWY.

HWY at constant 80 mph was maybe 22, 23 MPG.

The 2011 gets 8 to 10 city, 12 to 14 HWY.

What is wrong with this picture?

I drove my 2011 TTS from Oklahoma to California and back in June. I averaged around 23-24 on the highway in normal mode.

Your numbers don't look possible to me, but I'm no expert.

I did the same thing, but my '11 is not an S. I get noticeably worse mileage as well. I use the PDK in manual most of the time and I find myself shifting a bit higher than I did with the '08. I'm getting about 2 mpg worse.

However, my highway mileage is nowhere near 14mpg. Definitely assuming you are running in 7th on the highway. You should get 20 +.

That seems super low. I don't pay much attention, but I've seen 26mpg cruising on the NJ Turnpike w/my 2011 Turbo.

I get about 24-25 mpg on highway in my 2011 TTS, normal mode, 7th gear. I get 14-15 mpg in the city if I behave, about 11-12 if I don't. Your highway mileage is way too low. My car is stock factory spec.

Time for a Prius I am guessing gas mileage is triple.....and 0-60 still under 3.0.....just in minutes, not seconds.

Interesting post. I also moved up from a 2008 TT to a 2012 and noticed right away I'm getting about 2-3mpg less. I was quite surprised because I thought the DFI was touted as being more efficient. No complaints though because the 997.2 is a much nicer drive.

Its all relative. I feel like I have a Prius now compared to the Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Sport mode won't shift into 7th gear in most highway driving. I've found I need to manually shift into 7th or not drive in sport to get good highway mileage.

I'm averaging 17.0 in mine with a very heavy foot.

I got about 22 average on a long trip to CT. About 400 Miles round trip.

I was not in sport mode.

Around town I get anywhere between 10-17 depending on driving mode and how much fun I am having.

My results exactly. A bit surprised, but obviously this is typical. Nicely better than the gtr I had though, which typically pulled 13!
