People report gains with OE Tuning's tunes but I'd look into Jeremy from OE Tuning's history. He's now associated with benzworks so maybe things are different, but I'd look elsewhere into the several proven tuners like Cobb, giac, softronic, EPL, etc. OE tuning's rough history over the years (true or not) with powerchip, then gintani, leaves many a little weary, even if he makes a great product...

Why not use a reputable Porsche Specialist tuner such as EPL ?

EPL has more features right now but Cobb has a better platform. Cobb is catching up in the feature department too. No reason to buy anything else in my opinion. The Pro Tuning Freaks intro deal is too good to pass up in my opinion.

My EPL flash is amazing, and I have not heard anything bad about Cobb.

I beg to differ about a "better platform". We are laptop base which I understand does require you to carry a laptop with you... but it also allows you to flash from any EPL customers laptop not just the hand held tied to your car (or is many of your own laptops as you care to set up).

We have been tuning the 997tt platform at this point for 6+ years. Far longer then any of the "new tuners" that are popping up with hand held flash loaders and the features that we have that no one else currently does really hammers home how much further we are into that ecu then anyone else.

Many customers have been asking for a data logging suite, I expect we will be ready to release by 2/1/15.

Please email sales@eplabs.net if your interested in special pricing!

Reiterating what others have said with an extra touch: go with one of the more established options that best suits your goals. If you're looking for a simple bolt-on setup, and just plan on using a pump gas tune, EPL is an excellent option. If you plan on something more aggressive, maybe experimenting with multiple tunes or gradual upgrades over time, then COBB seems to be the next big thing for stock DME tuning. If they deliver anything close to their GTR setup (Launch Control w/ Anti-Lag, Rolling Anti-Lag, FlexFuel, Live Data Monitoring, Data Logging, etc.), all in a compact package, it's a very competitive setup for the more "involved" user.

COBB off the shelf MAPs are not nearly on the same level as EPL off the shelf flashes as far as gains go. Unless you are working with a good AP ProTuner and plan on getting ProTuned its not worth getting it.

I don't think that is an accurate statement.
I have never seen a comparison of EPL OTS map versus COBB so I can't comment on that but I know COBB is constantly updating their maps and features. Mitch and the team have come out with an amazing product in a short amount of time and they are continuing to develop more and more features every couple weeks. They release free updates constantly. It's also pretty clear they are causing some waves or you wouldn't have other tuners suddenly making tacky posts bashing their product and having some of their customers do so as well. Glad my tuner hasn't resorted to cheesy tactics like that by letting his product and service do the talking for him.
At the end of the day, someone in the market for a tune should do their research on what works best for them and their goals with the car. Good thing about the COBB is it suits anything from mild to wild and in between, plus people who want to set it and forget it or get a custom tune for the best performance.

I'll stand by my statement, Cobb does have a more developed platform. The entire ecosystem they have developed over the years on multiple platforms gives them a stable code base to draw from with an extensive feature set. I haven't seen the tools you use in person, but I'm sure everyone would love to see a demo.

They have custom software to modify maps - both a "pro" version for shops or professional tuners, and a "race" version for the end user. I can make adjustments if I want to - that is important to me, it may not be important to everyone.

The ability to use the handheld device to read/write/datalog is outstanding. Also the ability to display data logged parameters on the device is very handy as well.

I wasn't really looking to get in a direct conversation about your product with you - I know your work is very well respected in the community. I'm just sharing my impressions as a customer.

You're comparing apples to oranges by comparing platforms/markets that have different ecus, tuning architecture and flashing processes. Cobbs implementation is more developed outside the European market then most/all others... yes, I agree with that statement.

I understand you werent trying to direct the conversation toward EPL... but we were mentioned so I did respond. Thank you for the kind words.

Its unfortunate you feel that way.

I have used FVD, EPL, Eurodyne, ProEfi and Cobb between my 996TT and 997TT and Motec on Tims car, I never bashed any of them.
How many others here on this forum can say the same thing ??

I am not saying Cobb is poor platform, my comment was OTS vs OTS simple. It is a good tuning platform. I stand by my previous statement that it highly depends on who is tuning it and that the EPL and Proto OTS maps are more refined and make more power over Cobb OTS maps. Its that simple, local guy I know just sold a cobb in classifieds and got a Proto flash and car is faster. There was another thread up recently Cobb OTS flash picked up 45 HP and protuned 75-80. EPL does that OTS. It really depends on what you like to do with the car, how involved you want to be, how often you change setups, having good local support and how much of a investment you want to make into tuning.
