potential purchase 2008 cab tt - feedback please
Not much to go on. How about a link to the car's ad and pics?
Generally a real hard to depress clutch pedal is a sign the clutch is worn quite bit.
However, if the 997 has a boosted clutch like the 996, and I think it does, if the engine is off a hard to depress clutch pedal can be a sign the accumulator is bad. If the clutch pedal is hard to depress with engine running this could be a sign the clutch is worn but the boost feature may alleviate the pressure required so a worn out clutch might not feel any different. Another possibility is the boost circuit isn't working right and can't supply any boost even if the engine is running. This I believe is a pretty rare condition.
In the above I'm ignoring the slight chance the car has received a GT2 clutch conversion setup, if that is possible for the 997 Turbo and I think it is.
The Carreras AFIAK do not have a boosted clutch and a hard to depress clutch pedal is a sign of clutch wear. A PPI should confirm the pedal pressure is high and confirm this is a sign of clutch wear so you can adjust your offer price accordingly.
For the price my usual recommendation is to visit the various online sites that offer used car pricing and put in the car's numbers and see what prices turn up.
Note the wholesale/trade-in, private and retail sale prices.
You will likely encounter differing "opinions" on the price. Pick the lowest price.
Provided the car is in reasonably good shape the car is worth somewhere between its wholesale/trade-in price, well, how close to this the seller is wiling to accept, and how much you (or someone) is willing to pay.
IOWs, how much over the wholesale/trade-in price you pay is between you and the seller.

Thanks for the detailed response regarding clutch feel. Every time I have mentioned this to the sales guys they always try to play it off. I will just walk away again, if this is the case.
Cheers!
I will be test driving the car in a few hours and will report back.

Car is a very bare optioned car with relatively high miles. The prices is ok but with 83k miles I would go in VERY low. If you are looking to only keep it for a couple years you will have a tough time reselling a car with almost 100k miles on it.
The clutch in my turbo is SUPER light. My guess is the slave or accumulator have gone out.

Also, what does it mean if an "exclamation point" that is red in color on the dash board mean?
Car also has "TPC INACTIVE" showing up.
What does this mean?
Alignment is slightly out on passenger front.

Exclamation is a warning 'dummy light' - use the stalk or head unit to determine the cause. In your case...the cause is TPC Inactive -that is causing the exclamation point.
TPC Inactive is outline here: (the sensors referenced are the air pressure sensors in the tires...and indy will do it at a good price...dealer will certainly take their pound of flesh for this job - make sure the selling dealer replaces these for you and delivers a car without any faults).

Hi Nick,
Just got off the phone with tire shop (very reputable shop that specializes in Porsche) and was told, to my relief, that it's most likely the battery going low. "TPC Inactive" **is** the alarm message when sensors run low on battery.
The charge is estimated to be $130 x 4 sensors, plus a small labor charge. He suggested I change all 4 since they all very likely are running out of life (mine is 2008 car).
He also said these sensors could be changed without re-mounting (and re-balancing) tires.

Another clutch question though...
When is the engine supposed to engage?
I could depress the clutch all the way to the floorboard and would have to let off roghly 80% before car would move. Is this normal?
Car looked super-stock

The clutches catch very high on these cars. Probably the last 25% of the entire throw.
Some of the bigger options are:
Aero package
PCCB carbon ceramic brakes
Full leather
Adaptive Sport seats
Limited slip differential
Carbon interior
Etc etc
If you look at some of the other listings on here you will see the option list is long.
It doesn't make it a bad car but if I had to guess the original sticker price on that car is around 125-130k. Again just another data point to use for negotiating the price. If they say it is 15k below the price of the rest of the cars for sale you can tell them that is true but that is because it is a lower MSRP car to begin with and it has over 82k miles.

needs a thorough PPI,otherwise the price is great i don't mind scoring it and keep it for a long enjoyment. Go for it brother before someone else see the opportunity hammer down the price a little more if you can.
I have spent some time looking at other listings on this forum to get an idea.....I now see this turbo doesn't have that many options. I do believe it has full leather though.
Full leather was standard on turbo coupes so it might not show up on the options list.. I would imagine cabs would be the same.
